Enable Bootcamp to install from usb for OSX 10.9**WORKS**

I've gone through a very long process from upgrading to EL Captain because it couldn't read my iso, then having to grant my self access from SIP, then I had to sudo nano just to edit it, now i've gotten to the command where i do sudo codesign -fs - /Applications/Utilities/Boot\ Camp\ Assistant.app

It outputs a big error. This part worked before upgrading to EL Captain, if anyone has any ideas.

Can you check your Info.plist and specifically line 17? Use something like vi and check for any hidden characters.

This is not valid. Are you certain you want to edit this file? What is the specific problem you are trying to solve?

Creating a USB Installer is not the same as being able to install Windows using the created installer.

Is this the same problem I am having where I can't create a USB installer using an ISO? In Bootcamp assistant it just wants to create a partition and doesn't give me an option to create a USB installer. This is the only way I can use an install key bought online for a new PC I'm building. Help?

2015 and later Macs no longer use a USB Installer. They use an internal partition called OSXRESERVED. Please see How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support for a list of Macs which do not need a USB.

yeah thats the opposite of what I have. I currently have a Macbook Pro and I need to install Windows 10 on a fresh machine.

Download the ISO from Microsoft to your Mac, mount it, copy the contents of the ISO to a USB. Download Windows Support software to a second USB. Copy the Windows Support software contents to the root of the USB which contains the ISO, modify AutoUnattend.xml as appropriate and use this USB as your Windows-On-Mac Installer.

The trick to boot from a USB on a older mac is holding letter: C when booting. This will force the MacBook to boot into the USB. Make sure there is only 1 SSD / HDD installed (the one youre installing on) otherwise you will get errors.

if you copy boot cap assistant in you desktop and then do show package contents it let you copy back the file
