Apogee Duet (1) not working on Mavericks

I had been on Snow Leopard and Duet worked fine. Upgraded to Mavericks, now it does not.

I plug it in initially (after reboot) and sound comes through the Duet. If I touch any volume control, the sound cuts out. In Maestro, the controls are all very finnecky, can't select any options. If I unplug and replug, still no sound comes through. Assuming it's a problem with Maestro compatability, but I've heard that Mavericks isn't really playing nicely with other non-apple hardware either. Suggestions?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Have you checked with the Apogee folks? Perhaps they have updated drivers?

this is the exact problem i am having, to the tee. brand new imac with fusion drive here... i plugged my interface (propellerhead balance) into my old macpro that HASN'T been updated to mavericks and it works like a dream -.-

i spent 3K on this imac... and this computer has one job in my life: making music. that's it. one trick pony over here. this persistent problem along with just finding out logic x is not backwards compat. with 32-bit plug ins is making me consider leaving apple after many loyal years of throwing stacks at them... this is kind of ridiculous to spend this much on a machine renowned for it's use by music professionals, and it just doesn't. work. unbelievable.

Just for the record...

In Mountain Lion and Mavericks, the Apogee firewire products sometimes only work, or work better, when the device is on and connected at system startup. Not a perfect solution, but it can get you up and running - at least in some cases. Also, some software (such as ProTools) can work with the Ensemble even when Maestro doesn't recognize it. This seems to be a Maestro issue rather than a driver issue - at least in some cases.

Anyway, if nothing else works - try restarting with the device on and connected, and post your results - it always works for me!

In Snow Leopard, this was never a problem.

Hi. It seems no one has encountered a reliable solution to this dilemma. I have a brand new 27" imac 3..5 GHz Intel Core i7 w/ 3 TB Fusion Drive with OS x 10.9.1 and an Apogee Duet Firewire (bought in 2010 for a macbook pro OSX 10.6.8 working fine). I purchased a Thunderbolt adaptor (800) and after installing Maestro 2 (per Apogee website) I am dismayed to have found my sound system inundated with "digital distortion" which pops up after about 1 minute while using FCPX, Spotify, itunes, etc. Once in a while I can get 5 minutes or so of clear audio. I have changed sampling rates, rebooted, and primarily followed most of the above mentioned suggestions, with the exception of re-installing my operating system. I have not input mics or keyboards as of yet.

The computer itself was purchased for video editing (FCPX) and sound editing (Logic Pro 9). The mac store was aware of the specific system I wished to configure, including the Apogee. I understand that they couldn't have foreseen this problem. I admit I should have done more research. So, I'm pretty sad right now. If there is another Interface in the $500 range that anyone can recommend which will work with this system I am all ears.

Thanks for your help.

I am also one of the suckers who upgraded to a new iMac preloaded with Mavericks and that has a Fusion drive. Apogee Duet was working fine on my last iMac but this one creating the same problems as you guys. Ive been patiently reading here and waiting and still yet nothing.

I wish Apple would atleast chime in and tell us what the problem is here. If its the Fusion drive then lets replace the fusion drives. If its Mavs then lets go back to M Lion.

Come on Apple step up to the plate here lots of unhappy customers. Atleast give us an update as to *** is going on with a fix.
