Apogee Duet (1) not working on Mavericks

If you would like to resolve some of your issues with Duet Firewire and Duet USB with Mavericks or newer Haswell Macs. Please try re-installing your operating system from scratch, there are a number of Apple support resources that can show you how to do this. It worked for me, and has for others in this thread. Do not migrate data from an older backup.

I've already done that. No luck for me.

From what I was told by tech at apogee it's the USB connection between the duet and the new later 2013 iMac models. Other problems people are having with theirs for whatever reason that are not on new later 2013 models I'm not talking about. I'm just referencing my problem and what they have said is causing my problem

I noticed when recording and playing back at higher sample rates, there weren't any clicks or pops. 96k and 192k in Logic through a Haswell 21.5" iMac on Duet 2 worked great. Try out these higher sample rates on your systems.

fusion drive, mavericks, late 2013, my duet firewire doesnt work, also my motu ultralight mk3.

macbook air:

ssd, mavericks, late 2013, my duet works absolutely fine.

very strange......

GUYS! (and gals) There was an update tonight! The specs didn't specically call out this problem but I just updated and am having NO pops of clicks. However it's late and I am tired. :/ Will experiment more tomorrow

i just got home and checked. i already installed that update on the 17th and today i still had crackles and pops

I took my Duet back and upgraded to a RME Babyface. Cost an extra $70 and still same problem. So far i've tried the original firewire duet, duet ios, duet 2 & RME Babyface. None have worked on my 21.5-inch imac running mavericks. just updated to 10.9.1 and no improvement. Logic audio kind of works with pops, crackles etc. Spotify, itunes or youtube are unlistenable after about 30 seconnds.

Guy in the music shop reckons it's the fusion drive and to get in touch with apple. Imac and babyface have so far cost me about $3000 and I can't make music with it which is what I bought it for.

I formatted my new IMac 27 with I7 processor, Fusion 1Tb drive and 16Gb Ram purchased late 2013, reinstalling Mavericks clean and dedicated drivers to my apogee duet firewire result: DOES NOT WORK!! always the same problems!. Has anyone checked if there are any sound cards that work well on the new Mac with Mavericks (end of 2013)? I'm disappointed!

Yep, looks like you were right.

Strange, after re-installing the OS it worked for a bit then the cracks came back. After updating last night again, everything seemed to work but today it's not. Super strange.
