Re: iTunes 11.1.2 keeps crashing when sync with iPhone 5

I'd updated iOS7 (the latest), Maverick and iTunes 11.1.2. While everything is working fine independently, when I try to sync my iPhone 5 with iTunes, it just hangs at "Finishing Syncing..." forever. A few minutes later, iTunes just quit unexpectedly (crashed!!!).

I repeated syncing a few more times but same thing happens. I have no luck so far but wonder if anyone has similar experience with iPhone 5 or any other model and if a solution is found.

I will not sync any more until Apple has an update for any of their software to fix this. iPhone is backed up in iCloud so I am safe but I would like to change music from time to time but it seems a little unstable so far

I suggest going and updating to the latest version of iTunes.

Then.

Connect your phone directly to your computer via USB.

Launch iTunes.

Select iTunes Preferences.

Select Devices

Select your phone.

Choose DELETE back up.

Confirm.

Now back your phone up and this "fresh" back up should not present any problems.

Good luck!

I understand that you are not having trouble with the backup.

But, the Sync seems to look at your backup (my guess on this)

My problem was with Sync too, and after deleting my back up, creating a new back up (shoulda mentioned that in my other post as the step after Confirm) iTunes became much more stable, and now with the latest update, is rock solid again.

I really don't understand what the BackUp has to do with my problem. And especially a BackUp that is NOT on my Mac, but on the cloud ... Anyhow, I did that, and of course NOTHING changed.

iTunes STILL hungs on "importing photos" ! So ? Any more ideas ?

To help you, I have iPhone 4 32Gb, with 7.0.3, iMac with 10.9, iTunes 11.1.3, iPhoto 9.5 and my iTunes and iPhoto Library are on a Synology 212j NAS, on a share connected with afp ! Also, something else I've noticed is that when I open iTunes and go to File/Home Sharing/Choose Photos to Share with AppleTV, it takes a really looooong time to find iPhoto !

Hi Zografos,

Backing up to iCloud is different to local iTunes backups. iCloud only back up your Calendar, Notes, Contacts and Apps that you purchase (and still currently sold in App Stores).

Local backups is a full copy of whatever you have in your iPhone, including all apps (new or old or discontinued), photos, music, everything. I do get what others are saying and it's worth a try because everytime you connect your iPhone to yoru computer, you are literally creating a local backup, whether you like it or not. So sometimes a corruption could happen and cause trouble.

Make sure you photo link is still valid in iTunes before syncing. Just go to the photo tap to check or try to reselect if nothing is there.

My original problem was solved with the latest update because I don't use any NAS for my photos but I do use Aperture library from an external hard drive.

Hope your problem is solved soon.

Hi Zografos,

Application Specific Information:

Sandbox creation failed: Could not obtain real path to the container root (~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MediaLibraryService/Data): The operation couldn’t be completed. No such file or directory

I went to the Genius Bar (Apple Store) yesterday and they solved my problem. Apparently they recreated the link between iTunes' Photos sync and the Photos foldes like this:

They went to the Library Folder (hidden folder see link bellow) and deleted the cache, which obliged iTunes to re-create the link the next time they opened it.

I'm sorry if I'm not being very thourough in my explanation. I wasn't with them so I'm not sure I described ALL the steps. I hope you can solve your problem too!

Me too, I have updated Itunes yesterday to the latest version but syncing photos hangs at 39. and the PC locks up. I have to do a hard reset on the PC to recover from this.

I have used this program Ipad Magic Platinum

I can import all my photos no problem so it must be an Itunes / Windows XP problem.

Come on Apple please sort this out as I like to use Itunes !
