No sound out after wake up in Mavericks

I have updated to Mavericks three days ago.

But I find that there is no sound output (headphone &speaker) after sleep, even though for 1 second's sleep.

Everytime I need to restart the computer to obtain the sound again.

Someone list the following suggested solution, but it actually does not work:

"

Close all windows and quit all applications.

Click "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.

Select Computer, then Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences

Open "Audio" folder.

Right click these two files and select "Move to Trash".

com.apple.audio.DevicesSettings.plist

com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist

Close the window. Restart the computer.

"

I really really hope someone can help me to solve this problems.

Many thanks!

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Experiencing the same problem (no sound), after just pausing spotify for a 5 minutes.

There was no sound in either the headphones or the internal speakers but there was an output device called G246HYL (you can option/alt click on the sound icon in the menu bar to switch) that worked even though it was only possible to play at full volume with that device. After rebooting it worked as normal again.

Hello everyone! Apparently this problem arises when using adobe flash palyer (but maybe not only) and in my case is of software origin.

However, there is a quick fix:

Close all apps using sound (iTunes, Safari, Facetime etc.), open terminal and run:

sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

you may want to add

sudo killall coreaudiod

in the beginning or end. This restarts the audio server.

Or you can create an apple script for easier use. Create a new application in automator, select utilities - run applescript and paste this small script into it.

n run {input, parameters}

do shell script "sudo killall coreaudiod" with administrator privileges

do shell script "sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext" with administrator privileges

do shell script "sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext" with administrator privileges

do shell script "sudo killall coreaudiod" with administrator privileges

return input

end run

You may also want to add the "close application" for iTunes, Safari etc. or "ask for confirmation" in the beginning. Then save this application to your desktop, change its icon and copy it to the apps folder. In time of sound troubles launch it. It will prompt you for your password and restart the sound.

Good luck!

Yes, I agree that ptoblem is with Adobe Flash. I also made some experiments, and found that sound works well if I don't use web pages with Flash content.

But, when I run Grooveshark in web browser to listen to music - I see the ptoblem with sound after my macbook wake up after short or long sleep.

I think that Apple tech guys can find the problem with Adobe Flash and prevent this issue with sound. It's strange that third-party application creates problem for core of orepations system.

I believe that this problem will be solved in next release of Mavericks. Maybe in 10.9.2?

woccz2013'ssolution was the only solution it worked for me without restart, or resetting PRAM or whatever

(I didn't want to reset just to get back sound 😀)

Close all apps using sound (iTunes, Safari, Facetime etc.), open terminal and run:

sudo kextunload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext

you may want to add

sudo killall coreaudiod

in the beginning or end. This restarts the audio server.
