No sound out after wake up in Mavericks

Can I ask did your MBA have this issue prior to you updating your OS to Mavericks i.e. when you was running Mountain Lion?

I was running Mountain Lion for about a month. I didn't recall having this issue but i do encounter the black screen problem. It is very annoying to be dealing with this issue for such a long time and i wonder when will they come up with a solution.

Thanks for the update, so this is probably a Mavericks thing, rather than a hardware thing.

In terms of when they will fix it, ha! Next time they release the new OS I would think, when it will likely be replaced by another issue of different nature. Things are slipping in days of late.

My old MacBook Air is not problem!

I have the same problem as well. Seems to be a huge problem for everyone and I cant understand why Aplpe havent fixed it after so many months after the release of 10.9. I switched to OS X for over 6 years ago from Windows because I was tired of all stability issues involved with it. For every year that goes OS X is just becoming more and more unstable as well. I use my laptop for mobile music production and hence very much in need for a stable sound. I waited months before upgrading to Mavericks because I know there is normally issues in the beginning of a software upgrade. But this fault makes me so f-ing angry so I want to go back to the old OS where things worked. The least thing the sect Apple could to is to acknowledge the problem.

Still have this freakin issue. It has been so many months. I am so disappointed at Apple now.

Mac OSX 10.9.2 is out. Installed it and tried. Seems like they found something because it's working for me now (MBP late 2013, haswell, mavericks). I wrote about something I doscovered (page 13 I think). Let me know if it's working for you on 10.9.2.

Yup, 10.9.2 seemed to do the trick. Had chrome open playing a youtube video through headphones and closed the lid a few times and no issues. Time will tell but this is a good sign.

I have been just updated on 10.9.2 - didn't help.

Headphones volume buttons start work (I see on screen menu) but I don't hear any sound's change as no sound from skype or iTunes.

Why apple doesn't fix this annoying issue so long time ?!?!?!?

For me, this issue was solved by simply selecting the "AirPlay" icon in upper lefthand corner of menu bar in iTunes. For whatever reason the selection was stuck on Apple TV. I slected "Computer" closed and all was fixed.

I don't have headphones and never have had on my machine and it still makes no sound after sleep.
