No sound out after wake up in Mavericks

I have updated to Mavericks three days ago.

But I find that there is no sound output (headphone &speaker) after sleep, even though for 1 second's sleep.

Everytime I need to restart the computer to obtain the sound again.

Someone list the following suggested solution, but it actually does not work:

Close all windows and quit all applications.

Click "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.

Select Computer, then Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences

Open "Audio" folder.

Right click these two files and select "Move to Trash".

com.apple.audio.DevicesSettings.plist

com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist

Close the window. Restart the computer.

I really really hope someone can help me to solve this problems.

Same here. MBP Retina late 2013. Audio stops working randomly. None of the 'solutions' in this thread worked for me apart from reboot.

I had the same problem and only solution was to reboot but i found an alternative to avoid reboot.

1. open up activity monitor

2. search for coreaudio

3. kill!

This will restart the core audio and fix the problem. You can also use command line to do the same.

sudo killall coreaudiod

Having the same issue with no sound on my Mac Air after sleep. Only fix is to restart. Apple is "insanely disappointing" with their non-fixing of so many problems occuring after the update to Mavericks, not to mention the load of pain associated with the iOS7 update on my iPhone ... I will NEVER update to new software again. I am still limping along with a Maverick-related serious problem with Pages as well and the jury rigging fix that I am using is a total pain. Mavericks will be the last update on this Mac Air. Sigh.

Hi there.

I have same problem. The machine is MacBookPro Retina 13-inch ,Early 2013. OS is Marvericks(10.9) at localized to Japan.

This problem emerged when wake up from sleep, and solved to reboot PC.

I excute "sudo killall coreaudiod" command, do not fix this problem...(I kill coreaudio process from activity monitor, do not fix too.)

Plese fix this problem quickly...

Please at all let apple know they have a bug here! FIle a ticket here, I guess they will not be dealing with this issue until there is a decent amount of tickets ...

Already made an appointent at Apple store, I'm going to Apple store tomorrow, going to ask them to replace my motherboard--mine got another issue, shutdown randomly...just called the apple guy, Apple *****.....

So Apple is currently working on Mac OS 10.9.1 (it is in beta), has anyone tried the beta, if so, did the sound issue dissapear? (Like, did it not happen for 1 week?)
