No sound out after wake up in Mavericks

I have the sleep sound problem thingy and also have Boom installed. I suspected this was the issue.

I'm having A MacBook Air, 2014, and have Mac OS Sierra.

This is what I did.

I quit boom before I put the compute on sleep. I didn't run the other steps. Still, I have this problem. Furthermore, the internal speakers don't show up in the system preference>sound>output or input.

I have not read all the posts on this thread so do not know if a solution has been found on this since posting this in 2013.

I have also had this problem. I find just restarting the machine will sort the issue out, however it's very fustrating having to close all the programs to fix this.

I have the same problem. But i need to let the macbook sleep for quite some time before the sound will fail. However I chatted with the Apple support folks and they provided a fix for now. Go to system preferences, under energy saver, remove the checkbox for "put hard disks to sleep when possible". It seems to work for me. Does it work for u guys?

I have the same issue. Only happens after its been in deep sleep (usually over night). Only seems to be fixed with a restart.

Never had an issue before installing Mavericks.

Yeah I found out that that was not the fix. I am not exactly sure what I did to resolve the issue but I updated appcleaner and uninstalled Cleanmymac 2.. Not sure if this will be of use to anyone?

BTW, I'm also MBA 2013.....

I also updated Mavericks + Firmware update on my Macbook Air (Mid 2013) and I am experiencing no sound whatsoever after wake up. A restart brings the sound back. This appears to be the only solution working for me so far.

delete the following files if present, restart your Mac and do a PRAM-Reset:

• /Library/Preferences/com.apple.soundpref.plist

• ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.soundpref.plist

• /Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist

• /Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist

I can confirm the same issue.

It started happening 2 days after I updated to OSX 10.9.
Until now I have never experienced this problem.

Only fix thus far is to do a restart of the entire system.

System: MBP; Mid-2010.
