I am no expert here but I need a word from one. I have a MacBook Pro early 2009 or late 2010 and I just went ahead and installed Mavericks. Now, I am using something that reminds me of a Commodore64. it has become painfully slow. I need to work with this thing and I am underperforming to alarming levels. Please tell me what to do because I am this much from throwing it out of the window.

It's worth noting that you'll get more error messages in the console using non-Apple battery's from eBay. These shouldn't slow your system down any more than it is at the moment but it's alarming to see all these messages at first.

Try moving all launch items and plugins to a backup folder. If this speeds things up, move them back one at a time until you find the culprit.

Does this report indicate any actions I should take to get better performance from 10.9 Mavericks?

Many thanks!

Oct 31, 2013 3:36 PM in response to Myara

Hi Myara,

Parallels seems to be occupying an inordinate amount of CPU time. There are many other third party system modications that could also be contributing to poor performance.

Any time you install an OS upgrade you have to verify all those modifications will be compatible with it. Given the number of such modifications on your system it's anyone's guess which ones may be responsible.

Logitech's USB drivers were not compatible with Mavericks at least as of a couple days ago.
