After downloading Mavericks today my canon IP5200 printer will not connect not showing as supported on canon site do I now have to wait and see if updated software will appear?

After downloading Mavericks today I now find my printer is offline (Canon IP 5200), checked canon site and it is not yet supported. Do I have to wait now until Canon or Apple provide updated software?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I have used the search function on canon.com, canon.eu, canon.com.au and canon.dk (local Danish mirror) and in no instance is there an available driver for the Pixma ip5200r for OSX 10.9 Mavericks.

The only things you can download are Canon IJ Network tool and Easy Photoprirnt EX.

So I am really curious as to the path that has led you to the link you have provided. Where and how did you find this software?

I am sorry to sound paranoid but I do not want to install software from unverified sources and end up with malware as a result.

BTW: If you read the support document for the CanonPrinterDrivers2.12.dmg you will find that ip5200 og ip5200r are nowhere listed in the list of suported printers.

Another thing you can try is to install the Apple Canon Driver set (http://support.apple.com/kb/dl899) and then tell the Apple printer setup dialog that your printer is actually a different Canon Printer.

This worked for me with my Canon Pixma ip1700. The ip1700 isn't in the list of supported printers for this driver (which is why my mac didn't auto-install it), but telling the mac to treat the ip1700 as an ip1800 (which is still supported) seemed to work fine.

Hope this helps.
