Magic Mouse too Sensitive Under Mavericks

Sensitivity is an issue with all Apps under Mavericks. The slightest touch is detected as a swipe or scroll. I can't find any preference to adjust this. Any suggestions?

The sensitivity was fine under Mountain Lion.

I understand your concern about off topic, however, in this area I believe same issues with both Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad make trackpad posts on topic. Have swipe and control issues with both whioch never had with either until upgrade to Maverick. Both in service few years.

Working for the first time with iMac.27" A1419. Switched to Maverick on advise. Already hate the mouse! Screens are scrolling when I don't want it. Get network errors on preference pane (Viscosity issues), cannot open my Cisco ASDM. No hand (pointer) showing hyperlinks... do I need a course?

Or will the magic mouse work one day? And will love my iMac one day after using Microsoft for over 30 years!

Thanks for your guidance and tips to get my mouse under control.

You might have missed it a few pages back in this thread, but http://magicprefs.com solved all my Magic Mouse scrolling problems. I was having the same exact issues as you and everyone here on my new iMac and was that close to going back to the wired Mighty Mouse I'd used for years. Yes- it would be great if Apple fixed this themselves, but even if they did, I'd be using Magic Prefs since it gives so much more granular control over the Mouse than I've ever had before.

Hope this helps,

Dave

I posted the Magic Prefs work around and while not a fix it does reduce the issue and, with all due respect, if it's not helped then it's possible you've not implemented it correctly. Using Magic Prefs to move the scrolling area below where my finger rests and clicks has reduced the issue considerably and, while still not ideal or without its own issues, it has stopped me tearing my hair out until Apple correct this bug.

The issue I have been having with my MagicMouse is that it is way too sensitive. This seems especially problematic when using either a map like Google Maps, or any of the various maps built into websites, or scrolling through a PDF.

I have noticed that with maps, when I click and hold to move the map I end up zooming in and out repeatedly, or just plain zooming in and out once but way too much.

With PDFs the issue is that scrolling is WAY to sensitive. One small drag of my finger accross the magic mouse and I end up flying to the last page. I basically cannot use the mouse with PDFs at all.

Is anyone else noticing these two issues or other issues with the touch functionality being too sensitive?

As a side note, I did download MagicPrefs, and while it is a nice little app I didn't find a way to decrease the sensitivity of the endogenous preferences (scrolling, zooming, etc., as opposed to adjusting the sensitivity of the functions you can toggle on or off via MagicPrefs).

Hope Apple or someone can figure out a solution because I am about ready to return my Magic Mouse and try something from Logitech.

I should also add a couple of things. First, I have tried adjusting the MagicMouse settings in Preferences, as well as Accesibility Options.

Second, it seems like there are times when I can't get the Magic Mouse to respond properly at all.

For example, at times I can click on a hyper link, or a minimize button, two or 3 times and nothing will happen. In addition, using the double-tap with two fingers for Mission Control and the Smart Zoom features (double-tap with one finger) is not always reliable either--sometimes it works, sometimes not at all, and other times it will repeat the function rapidly several times.
