Since I upgraded to Mavericks when I open a powerpoint in Slideshow mode my screen goes black and it restarts Powerpoint. Anyone know how to fix this or experiencing this yourself?

I am having this same exact problem. Microsoft Office Powerpoint 2011 in Mavericks on a MBA 13" when I go into slideshow mode it blacks out entirely.

Try to update your powerpoint with Microsoftupgrade > Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0

Just update your office! It will work! I had the exact problem after upgrading to Mavericks.
Many thanks for this - maybe it is naive but having just converted to mac from pc and purchased new microsoft office for mac is it not reaonable to expect them to work together out of the box??? After spending ££££ I then spend hours trying to find out why I can't open and use a previous powerpoint presentation. Not impressed for products from two of the worlds major tech companies. If I claimed for wasted time what would happen.....
