Vodafone Mobile Broadband on Mavericks

I just updated by Mac Air to Mavericks, but I am not able to use my Vodafone USB Key. I installed what I think is the newest version of Vodafone Mobile Broadbands, it connects on UMTS for a few seconds but then automatically close the connection. Anybody who is suffering the same problem? Thanks for the help

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Finally I found a solution available and easy:

1) Upgrade to last Vodafone Mobile Broadband

2) Shutdown your MacBook Pro.

3) Connect your USB Device K3765 (with your Mac off)

4) Start your MacBook Pro.

5) Run Vodafone Mobile Broadband

And, runs correctly.

I have done this several times and has worked in all.

If you put in hibernation state the Mac, without disconnecting USB device, when returning to raise the screen, it also works without problems.

Updating to the latest firmware and Vodafone Mobile Broadband software did not solve the issue for me. However, I found the following solution.

1) Install the latest Vodafone Mobile Broadband (VMB).

2) Open VMB, go to its Preferences. On the "Start & Quit" tab, use the following:

- Do not start this application (when OS X starts up)

- Untick "Start this application when a mobile device is plugged in or switched on"

This ensures that VMB does never start automatically.

3) Now, in System Preferences, in the Network section there should be a Vodafone K3765 modem. Set it to use the following (using an administrator account):

- telephone number *99#

- account name vodafone

- password vodafone

- tick Show modem status in menu bar

- Apply

4) Now, from the modem icon in the menu bar you can connect and disconnect.

The VMB software is never started. You cannot use it to monitor your usage. However, you can start and stop the modem using standard Apple controls, and the connection will not disconnect after a few seconds.

It may not be ideal but this works realiably for me; the VMB software does not.

Hi, I have the same problem but managed to get the internet connection working with a work-around:

- Let the "vodafone mobile broadband" app connect.

- Open the force quit menu and quit the vodafone app (before it disconnects).

- Wait for it to close.

- Check that the connection established led light is active.

- Try using the internet.

I did this by chance and its working fine. I'll keep using this work-around until a better solution comes up (probably an app update).

Cheers

AngeloDS,

you can check the firmware when going to Help / Diagnose.

I'm having the same issue with my MacBookPro and K3765.

I am using now the last Vodafone Mobile Software and the last Firmware.

I have done a firmware update with Windows, even if I allready had the last version.

I works perfectly in my MacBook pro in a Parallels Desktop VM with Windows 7, but it has the same issue as reported above with Maverichs.

It conects, but there is no dataflow and then it hangs up after soem seconds.

Regards, Carsten
