WiFi disconnects by it self Mavericks problems

Since I upgraded to Mavericks I have been experiencing problems with the WiFi connection. Specially when not using the computer for a few minutes. I find this very disturbing since I might want to keep connected for any purpose. Is there any change in Mavericks software that could be causing this?

I also found that Mavericks seems to be little less smooth than Mountain Lion. I don't think that would have to do with a lack of resources in the coputer.

Thanks,

Disconnected 6 times while trying to read this page, move to page 2 and then log in to reply

6 fracking times in less than 2 minutes - non of my other devices are disconecting - and yes i tryed to delete the network, and then re-enter it...

And hey I just got my 7. th disconnect while typing this message.

but it dont disconnect when i use it alle the time like when i have a skype call going...

and there goes my 8. th disconnect.

Perhaps it related to nap since it wont nap programes in use, so when skype is using what ever program/ service it wont nap... but after that it will nap the what ever bit that is causing this ?

and there goes the internet again .... for the 9. th time in less than 5 minuts.

Make that 10 - it disconnected between clicking on the name in list and making it down to the "add reply" button.

THIS FIXED IT ON ALL MY COMPUTERS running Mavericks:

- open Terminal (Apps / Utilities / Terminal)

- type "caffeinate" without the quotation marks and press enter

- nothing will happen but leave that window open

The problem, in my case, was that Mavericks was going into some sort of sleep mode even though I hadn't activated the sleep functionality when plugged in. In fact my screen worked perfectly and the laptop wasn't sleeping.

However, Mavericks seems to sleep on some level.

CAFFEINATE seems to keep it always on. So when I leave my laptop backing up all day or downloading some big file it never loses wifi connectivity anymore.

Let me know if it works for you too!

My Macbook and MBP were the only devices out of 12 that had conection issues which led me to believe is was a driver issue caused by the Mavericks upgrade.

I don't know why this worked because none of my iPads, iPhones, ATVs or laptops had issues but here is what worked for me.

My Network Issue Fix:

Open Airport Utility

click on Router

click on Edit

click on Wireless

under Wireless Options choose a different setting (mine was on 802.11 b/g) I changed it to 802.11n only (5GHz)

click on update

It’s a lame fix but it works. I can enjoy the internet again.

My problem is not only limited to my mac (Macbook Pro Retina 2013 model) disconnected from the wifi network automatically after I updated it to OSX 10.9 Mavericks, but also it can't connect to my school wifi network anymore. It keep saying my password is incorrect while I know that's the right one because it works on my other devices.

This is completely ridiculous. Whenever I clear all the wifi reference and join the network again. It said my password is incorrect while my andriod phone just browsing the apple community group pages smoothly.

Running diagnosis also yielded no results in solving such problems. It just keep suggesting me to move near to the wifi router or check my wifi setting which I know every student has no problem in using the internet.

And I tried everything...including restart and restart and restart again my mac! The only thing that I haven't resorted to is reinstall my OSX.

The Wifi router difinitely has no problem. Nothing wrong with the wifi. It's the system

Can Apple fix this? This is a really huge bug.😠

Same thing here, using latest Mavericks in a 2008 iMac. The weird thing I noticed is that the wifi seems to drops only when using Safari. With Chrome and everything else I don't have that issue at all. I decided to keep the Console app open to catch the moment I lost my connection and found this:

29/11/13 17:49:18,000 kernel[0]: AirPort: Link Down on en1. Reason 4 (Disassociated due to inactivity).

So it seems that airport is sleeping due to ˜inactivity˜, which to Mavericks means no data exchange in less than 5 minutes or so (like writing this post. That **** thing turned off again). Any weird ideas to keep the wi-fi awake?
