Importing images from iPhoto into iMovie 10, green image
When importing some images from iPhoto into iMovie 10, some images turn solid green. Is it a bug or a problem with the images themselves?

I did it but it does not work that smoothly. Around 20% of the pictures don't work well in the imovie. They don't look green but messed up. You have to be careful to discover which ones are ok and which ones are not.
It seem to be some kind of bug in the Ken Burns effect - Im not able to adjust the start/finish points, or more correct: some times it suddenly seem to function all right, but most of the time it is locked. I've tried every combination of using the mouse with or without using the keyboard in adition. It shouldnt be that complicated??
Does anybody knows were to report the error?
Would love to know - I'm trying to pull together a project for Christmas and I don't want to edit hundreds of pictures just to insert them into iMovie.
Same problem here ! Please help ... thanks
I've had both problems of pictures turning green and "messed up" and tried to do several things to fix it including changing the pic in iPhoto (did not work) and changing the file name (sometimes worked). I have a MacBook Air mid-2011 as well.
Hope we get answers!
Does someone from Apple come on and help at some point?
Same problem here - please fix ASAP !

I spoke with Apple about this issue yesturday and they are aware of it. I got all the way to a senior advisor who was talking to one of the engineers. They said they should get back to me by the middle of next week. I will post what they tell me.
Hi, all.
Had the same problem with a project I was working on.
Here is what I discovered:
Using iMovie 10.0, iPhoto 9.5
2011 13" MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9
It was randomly importing pictures as solid green images. Not related to Ken Burns, not related to edits.
Some pictures would import normally, then the SAME picture would import as green in another project.
I copied the project file (using iMovie 'Copy to Library') to my Late2009 iMac.
It works perfecty (including the pictures that show as green blocks.
Copying the project back to the MacBook Pro results in other random pictures becoming green blocks!
My best guess is this problem is affecting Macs with the Intel HD3000 iGPU.
I have a 2012 Mac Mini with the HD4000 I can test with later.
I have the exact same problem on a 2011 Macbook 13", 2.8 GHz, HD3000 Graphics on 10.9 with Imovie 10.0.
In my experience, it seems to display green instead of the picture, for all panoramics imported from IPhoto. All other photos(taken with Iphone and point and shoot) came in fine, panoramics were the only one's effected.
I tried exporting them from Iphoto as jpeg, and bringing them into Imovie, and they are still green.
Have not found a way to get the panormaics to show up within Imovie without them being green.
This is absurd. Can someone from Apple please help us here? Same issues. Photos will sometimes show up as an image, but then after I play through my clip, they turn to green flat images.
Exact same problem here.
Has anyone managed to get a photo that does not work (i.e. shows up green) to work by modifying the image in some way and then re-importing into iMovie? (size, resolution, format etc etc).
I'm thinking there must a workaround as some photos do work.
If you auto-adjust the photo in iphoto some of them get solved. But you have to be careful because some get the second error (noise instead of green). Does anybody knows if there is a place for a bugtracker in apple website so we can fill a bug? I am not sure this forum is the place to put the info. Nobody from apple has appeared to say they know and they are listening to us.
As an update.
I found that reducing the image size of the photos that were showing up green and re importing them allowed them to show correctly.
All the photos that didnt work were taken with a Nikon DLSR and were around 5MB JPEGs I reduced them to around 3MB (by reducing the image size) and all imported ok.
Lucky for me this image resize doesnt really matter for this project.
