This exact same thing is happening to me....my phone was low on battery today whilst at work. The next time I checked it I just thought the phone was out of battery but when I got home and put it on charge it turns on for about 3 seconds to the Apple logo and then flicks off. This process is on repeat. There is nothing you can do because putting it on charge doesnt work longer than 3 seconds, and cant restore it on the computer because when you take it off the charger it has no battery to respond to the computer. This was a relatively new phone for me, had it for less than a year and have taken good care of it..........

Hi! I have been having a similar issue with my iphone 5. (I am using my parents ancient windows xp media center to try to fix)

1. Apple logo flashed when i plugged it into wall charger and wouldnt charge at all or turn on.

2. when plugged into computer would not do anything. Couldn't be recognized(computer didnt even say it was plugged in, even in device manager) and would not even flash the apple logo while plugged into computer.

Tried all of the aforementioned steps to no avail. Was just about hopeless... Then I ran across an article describing DFU mode.

NOTE: If you are worried about any photos contacts etc on your phone DO NOT CONTINUE. TAKE IT TO AN APPLE STORE.

That being said I was able to put my phone in DFU mode by plugging in the phone to my computer. With black screen and no power indication on the phone, I held down the wake button and home button for 10 secs. Released the wake button and continued holding down the home button for another 10 secs and then released it as well. Suddenly my computer recognized the phone in dfu and was recognized in itunes and I am able to now restore it(Aka erase everything and reinstall the firmware). I have not finished it yet but will reply back once it is done and will let you know if it works. The screen has stayed black the entire time.

The dreaded flashing Apple logo just happened to me. Yesterday, I went for a jog using Nike+ app while listening to music via JBL bluetooth headphones. All of a sudden it shut down. I powered it back on and the Nike+ app resumed recording my run. Then it shut down again! This time, after I powered it back on, the weirdest thing happened. A kernel screen came on showing programming code that filled up the entire screen.

I am running the latest iOS (iOS 8) on the iPhone 5 and latest iTunes (Yosemite). Just got back from the Apple store (Portland, OR) and the rep. told me because my phone is out of warranty they couldn't give me a replacement phone. Option A = Buy a new iPhone 5 for $260. B = Buy a newer iPhone (5C, 5S, 6, 6+) C = Beg, borrow, or steal another iPhone (I threw in the 'steal' part).

Frustrating. I have been an iPhone user since the 3rd gen. phone and never had this kernel-flashing thing happen. So much for trying to sell my working iPhone 5 32GB on craigslist to pay for an upgrade.

If you trust some tools like FonePaw iPhone Data Recovery, you can use it to help you fix this issue actually.

To fix iPhone stuck on Apple logo with this program, you can follow the steps below:

Step 1: Run the program on your computer after downloading and installing it. Then connect your iPhone to the computer..

Step 2: For Windows version users, please choose “Restart the device” and then your device will go back to normal in a moment after rebooting. For Mac version users, please click “Start”, then your iPhone is back to normal.

Hope it helps!

Apple is intentionally locking IPhones in order to sell new IPhone 6's. There has been heavy pressure on me to trade in my IPhone 5 which is qualified for an upgrade but I have been consistently saying no, why should I, It's working. NOW, you guessed it. When I plugged in my cell phone to the computer to transfer photos, Apple's Itunes took control and forced me into upgrading the operating system before transferring the photos. In the process they said my system could not be updated and locked me out with an "Itunes and charging cable" that defies removal.
