Display issues after installing Mavericks

Have an iMac mid 2007 and installed Mavericks. However am noticing areas on the screen where there are moving diagonal lines (the best way I can describe it) and also on certain background colours like light grey there is a horizontal pin stripping effect.

I have reinstalled a clean copy of Mavericks twice and also reinstalled a clean copy of Mountain Lion to check for this issue but no sign of it in Mountain Lion at all.

Have been on to AppleCare and they have had me reset the SMC and PRAM and also repair permissions and repair disk as general troubleshooting but the problem still persists. They have said to try downloading the installer again for Mavericks, which I am currently doing, incase there is something wrong the first copy although installed and works fine on my MacBook.

Just wondered if anyone else had had this issue either using an iMac Mid 2007 with the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256mb or later model?

I am wondering if it may be something to do with the driver included with Mavericks for my graphics card?

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Thanks for posting this link. I ran AHT and took my Macbook Pro 2010 into the store I bought it at where all diagnostics turned out positive...and they could not reproduce the problem at the store. I was pretty upset at being told there was no problem only to bring my computer home with the same problem there within hours. I hope it is a mavericks software fix since a lot of people who have had the hardware issues in previous osx have not been happy with the fixes.

No positive changes after the update here either.

I've been in touch with Apple Care (phone service) here in Germany because of this problem and actually spoke to a very dedicated service person a couple of times. He forwarded capture data from my iMac to the developers and recently asked for photos of the phenomenon to forward. I have referred to both this and the other discussion thread more than once, too. Unfortunately, so far no feedback has come his (or my) way as to what the problem might actually be or how it could be solved. I am hoping for the next update now - as this one to 10.9.1 doesn't include any mention of graphics whatsoever compared to the rumours (or did I miss that information?). Very disappointing.

As to wether all device-models are affected - as I mentioned earlier, we have both an iMac 2007 with ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB and an iMac early 2008 with ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128 MB in our office, and both show the same problems. This might of course just be coincidence and bad luck ... or it might show that it is indeed a very wide-spread problem on these machines.

May iMac early 2008 has the exact same problem. ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128 MB

I tried the color profiles from Mountain Lion and Leopard (which were perfectly working), but no success on OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks... The other color profiles indeed are blueish.

I have had the same issue earlier with Windows 7 Boot Camp... (Never fixed it.) But never with OS X!

Hope it will be solved in 10.9.2.
