Wifi disconnects after sleep and takes long time to reconnect with Mavericks

Since upgrading to Mavericks whenever my MacBook Air goes to sleep (if I leave it idle) the wifi disconnects and it can take up to a minute to reconnect when it wakes.

Basically what happens is, as soon as it wakes I have no internet connection, the WiFi indicator is pulsing, meaning it is searching for networks, but it takes ages to find any, then after some time, usually between 30 secs and a minute all the networks in my building pop up and it instantly at that point reconnects to my WiFi network.

It is incredibly frustrating I was so used to the Mac being an instant on tool, now it takes longer to get on the internet than booting up my windows PC.

Any ideas what might have caused this?

Same problem here. MBA 2013, not connecting to wifi ater wake. As ppl said before problem started to occur after updating to Mavericks. I've checked it on many networks, everywhere same issue. None of the sollutions posted in this thread or other topics worked for me. Tried everything still wifi does not connect after wake. It is very annoying. Really Apple should fix this.

Same exact problem here. TWO different 15" rMBP's: one mid 2012 (2.3 i7) and one early 2013 (2.7 i7) which was JUST purchased from Apple. On the older machine, the problem started exactly after upgrading to Mavericks. On newer machine, it had this problem out of the box. So, they shipped a product they know does not function correctly? Wow! Hmmm...

Fix this issue Apple!

P.S. I just had to recommend my mother not upgrade Mac OS on her 2011 MBP because I knew this problem would bother her enough that it just wasn't worth the upgrade. And, if anyone asked me about buying a MBP or MBA right now I might just recommend against it because of this issue. So, it's your rmoney $Apple...

I posted earlier that this solution worked for me, From Reforger:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5537854

But after giving it a few days I have to say that this solution improved the situation but did not fix it... in that if I do nothing then my Macbook eventually reconnects, but I still have to wait 30 seconds. (WIthout this solution my Macbook coud not find any Wifi Networks and never connected after sleep.)

Prior to Mavericks I could simply close the lid, then open it again to reconnect, there was no waiting.

Please be sure to send Apple 'feedback'.
