Wifi disconnects after sleep and takes long time to reconnect with Mavericks

Since upgrading to Mavericks whenever my MacBook Air goes to sleep (if I leave it idle) the wifi disconnects and it can take up to a minute to reconnect when it wakes.

Basically what happens is, as soon as it wakes I have no internet connection, the WiFi indicator is pulsing, meaning it is searching for networks, but it takes ages to find any, then after some time, usually between 30 secs and a minute all the networks in my building pop up and it instantly at that point reconnects to my WiFi network.

It is incredibly frustrating I was so used to the Mac being an instant on tool, now it takes longer to get on the internet than booting up my windows PC.

Any ideas what might have caused this?

I've been on the phone every week with Ed from Apple support for over 3 weeks now. He has esclated it to the engineering dept and I've got a phone appointment this Wed. evening for the results.

Basically we've been capturing the Unix commands during the time when my MacBook Air wakes from sleep and tryies to connect to Bluetooth and WiFi.

If you hold down the option key and then click on the WiFi icon in the menu bar it gives you "Open Wireless Diagnostics" Anyway this info has been sent to engineering.

Hang in there!

Just got off the phone with Ed from apple and Engineering wanted me to be in the same room with my WiFi router and see if the problem still exists and it does.... Ed thought that this wouldn't be a problem but he has to give this info to the engineers so they forge on... He may call back on Saturday...

It's weard, I told him about the apple discussion board with regards to this problem and the 7 pages of people complaining and he said that he doesn't deal with that... ***.... it's like the CIA not talking to the FBI...

That's it for now...will repost when I know more

This was the last email that I received from Apple...

Hello Mike!

Thank you for contacting Applecare!

I have yet to get a good response from upstairs, so we're still waiting to see what they will say. Is there any way to test out the computer with another bluetooth device other then the speakers, or perhaps take the speakers to another network to see if we can make sure that we dispel any notions that it has to do with your home network?

Right now it appears that things are leaning towards wiping everything out and testing with nothing but the bluetooth speakers paired, no data, and a test account. I'm trying to see what else we can do before going that drastic. I really do think that you've found something rather unique in how Bluetooth and WiFi are interacting. I will keep you advised.

Regards,

Anyway, I did test my laptop with another bluetooth device and another network and the problem remains the same. I've emailed my results back to the Applecare Tech and will repost when we take the next step.

Hi all. At last week i was bought new mbpr 13" and detect problem with wifi on wake up. I try all from this post: create new location, use only wifi and thunderbold interfeces on it, disable bluetooth, but nothing helped. Wifi was disconnected when i open laptop after night.

But when i disable checkbox "wake for a network access" on power saving options - wake up works fine!

I try enable this option - wifi dont work after sleep. Then disable - wifi works fine. I dont know how this option related with this problem, but this help to solve problem.
