Mail constantly synchronising (iCloud imap - Mavericks)

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I have had a slew of problems. One major issue is:

Mail is constantly synchronizing every imap folder. As soon as it finishes, If i click on any new message, folder, or file a mesage, etc.... Mail will start syncing every folder again.

This is not a big issue at home with 500M speed internet, but at work and on the road where I have as slow as 3M speed, it slows down everything, since moving messages or loading messages with attachments crawl when the synchronizing is going on.

Any ideas how to end it from synchronizing non stop?

Mac mini (Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3), 2.6Ghz Qua i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB Fusion

Rebuild mailboxes.

Instructions are the same for Mavericks as M. Lion > Mail (Mountain Lion): Rebuild mailboxes

Rebuild? I just built them last night for first time, as I did a clean install of Mavericks and fresh install of my IMAP iCloud account so that i could get a clean download of all emails. I suppose I can try that again tonight 😟

Hi,

Same problem here. Mail spend several minutes each time it starts syncing with iCloud. I tried to rebuild, but this keeps on occuring.

I've no idea of what happens...

I tried to uncheck / Chech again Mails in my iCloud account, but the problem's still here.

It seems that Mail syncs iCloud (and none of my other accounts, all IMAP) each time it checks for new mails...

I'm having exactly the same proble. Mine hs been syncing for 24 hours now. No idea how to stop it. Rebuilding Mailboxes doesn't make any difference. Is this a known bug? Some users might not notice it is happening unless they look at Window > Activity.

I also have this behaviour. I have rebuilt all mailboxes, but the problems persists. Constant synchronising. Driving me mad.

I also have this, seems to be on computers that have other device also syncing to iCloud.

Our macs that do not have other device syncing to iCloud do not show this behavior.

Maybe a rebuild on the devices is needed, will try. Any other idea ?

Syncing worked before using cables; this is ludicrous. We no longer have what we bought and feel let down.

And I don't know what a rebuild is: how is the data protected?

Rebuilds are safe, but in this case they don't do any good.

I'm having this problem too. Eating up my data allowance from my ISP. Seems to keep syncing mailboxes with iCloud every time it checks for mail. Emptying the mail trash also seems extremely slow now. Shame as all this worked really well in 10.8 and still does on my MBP which hasn't upgarded to 10.9.

I don't use iCloud but my IMAP account still synchronizes each time I start up Mail. If you have several GB of mail, this takes a long time.

It does not, however, do a full sync when I just check mail (currently set to manual).

Same here. I don't have much information to add, I just add my email in hopes that Apple realizes there is indeed some problem that needs fixing.

interesting... so it does not do this with other IMAP accounts for you? Maybe ill just end this icloud cherade and move to a new mail providor then.

my Mail is setup to check for new messages every 5 mins. My internet is slow in China, and i have several GB of IMAP on there... so literaly every time it finishes syncing through everything, it starts up again. This is incredibly frustrating and becoming impossible to use for business.
