Mail constantly synchronising (iCloud imap - Mavericks)

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I have had a slew of problems. One major issue is:

Mail is constantly synchronizing every imap folder. As soon as it finishes, If i click on any new message, folder, or file a mesage, etc.... Mail will start syncing every folder again.

This is not a big issue at home with 500M speed internet, but at work and on the road where I have as slow as 3M speed, it slows down everything, since moving messages or loading messages with attachments crawl when the synchronizing is going on.

Any ideas how to end it from synchronizing non stop?

I see a similar situation as well everytime I open Mail.

It will spend a lot of time syncing/copying my iCloud

account mailboxes, even if nothing has changed with

them. I do sync iCloud mail with my iPhone and my

Macbook Pro. However, this behavior was not present

in Mountain Lion and only mailbox changes were updated

on the different devices.

It is happening with other IMAP accounts. I have been having sync issues with my usa.net account via IMAP.

I realized about this problem after finding an old email and then seeing it "disappearing" right away. Then, all of the folders, including Inbox, become empty. I have seen this event three or four times, and I have rebuilt the account every time.

I did not have this issue with ML, Lion or SL.

I just reported this issue to Apple.

I have this, too. Affects only the iCloud (.Mac) mail and only using Mail. Does not affect other IMAP accounts with a different ISP, does not affect iOS devices, does not happen with a different mail program (Postbox). Can be seen clearly using the Mail activity monitor window.

I thought I'd fixed it by removing "Envelope *" files and some others, but the faulty behaviour returned. Rebuilding mailboxes makes no difference.

IMO (or judgement) this is clearly related to the upgrade to Mavericks associated with Apple's Mail application and Apple's iCloud.

I'm not having this issue. However, I also have an iPad that syncs using IMAP (an iCloud acct), and that seems to stop the issue.

In the past large IMAP MBs have ALWAYS caused prblems. It's the main reason I don't us it for business. Having said that do any of you with problems have the IDLE command checked?

I don't know if that will help, but I'm sure that I turned this on AFTER moving to Mavericks.

My Mail is also syncing much more often than I used to see it perform it's regular tasks at the set interval. But the most remarkable thing is that it is "syncing" off-line folders as well ! I repeatedly notice it dabbling with my year-to-year "Archief" folders which are supposed to be stored merely off-line ("On my Mac"). But I see these names whirling by with an "iCloud" suffix, every time Mail starts syncing. What's happening here ?

Yes ... this is annoying, in previous post I thought it had to do with other device synced to a specific mac and iCloud but that was a wrong assumption. This syncing is a 10.9 / Mail problem and very bad.

The strange thing is that so few user have seen this, maybe activity monitor window is not used to see what Mail is doing. It takes a few minutes for the sync process to end and then when finally done - lo and behold - sync starts again. Funny but not funny. This should not have been released.

I'm also having this problem, and mail seems to want to sync all the mail folders (which I use fairly heavily) on iCloud. Unfortunately, I upgraded both my laptop and desktop to Mavericks, and this is happening on both (MBP late 2012 and iMac mid-2010). I am beyond frustrated.

One of the previous posters mentioning "reporting this to Apple". How might one go about doing that? I do not have current support.
