Mail constantly synchronising (iCloud imap - Mavericks)

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I have had a slew of problems. One major issue is:

Mail is constantly synchronizing every imap folder. As soon as it finishes, If i click on any new message, folder, or file a mesage, etc.... Mail will start syncing every folder again.

This is not a big issue at home with 500M speed internet, but at work and on the road where I have as slow as 3M speed, it slows down everything, since moving messages or loading messages with attachments crawl when the synchronizing is going on.

Any ideas how to end it from synchronizing non stop?

On the plus side, Apple released an attempted fix at what seems to be a boneheaded IMAP resynchronization setting in Mail. On the negative side, they released an OS that broke a basic function (email). What does that say about their QA?

Looking at it overall, I see no compelling advantage to upgrading to 10.9. There are no *must-have* features, no great freebies. The upgrade is free, but will cost me hundreds or thousands of dollars in other software upgrades. Say goodbye to PowerPC on Rosetta, for example.

But the new hardware *requires* the newest OS. I'd prefer the option to continue to run Snow Leopard indefinitely. I can run Windows XP or Linux on new Apple hardware but not 10.6. Oh, well....

Further information. I installed the Mail update as soon as it was available. Initially, I noticed that it seemed to almost resolve the problem. Constant iCloud synchronising was reduced dramatically. But now, as the days go by, I have noticed that the duration of the same synchronising as I reported initially is creeping up again, taking several minutes. I'm not sure this is fully resolved.

I'm having the exact same issue with my usa.net IMAP account since setting up my new MacBook Pro running Mavericks 10.9.1. Every time I start Mail, any mail on the server disappears and re-downloads. I do not sync to iCloud, so that's not the problem. I'm using the most current version of the operating system, so any "fixes" should have already been incorporation. Initially I had over 20,000 emails on the server, so this took forever! I've moved anything over 2 months old to my local machine and trimmed it down to just under 7000 messages, but it's still painfully slow.

I too have sent feedback to Apple using the link that Patbal posted: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
