Oct 28, 2013 8:32 AM in response to Bill Plunkettby andyBall_uk,If you click/hold the + button, a menu should appear allowing you to choose Top Sites, Favorites (bookmarks) bar, or Bookmarks. I don't know any way to return to the previous behaviour.

Oct 30, 2013 3:37 PM in response to andyBall_ukby Bryan Sparks,Used to be when you clicked the + button, a dialog would come up asking where to save the bookmark. I got it to at least switch back to saving a bookmark instead of reading list (thanks andy), but then I have to open the bookmarks pane, and move the bookmark to where I want it. It's kind of a pain. One of those cases where Apple tried to make something easier to use, but instead made it worse for some users. The only way to go back to the old behavior is click the bookmarks menu and select "Add Bookmark…" or use ⌘D. I guess I will memorize a new keyboard shortcut now.

Nov 13, 2013 4:48 AM in response to Bill Plunkettby Chris Hoskins,Yes, this is a horribly annoying feature, I NEVER use the reading list, why change this? At least give me the option of choosing what I want to do!

Nov 29, 2013 2:04 PM in response to Chris Hoskinsby Fingerscrowbar,Typical of Apple at the moment. i NEVER USE READING LIST. Feels like a windows type thing. completely counter intuitive. Why change if it isn't broken.

Dec 2, 2013 7:31 AM in response to Bill Plunkettby mdk100,I found this change annoying too. Best fix I've found is to move the "share" button (box icon with arrow) onto the tool bar. When you click it, you get the option to "add Bookmark".

Jan 26, 2014 1:42 PM in response to Bromac74by ran103,This is true, and I was aware of that - It might seem trivial, but the problem is that things are different when you're using a trackpad. I like most people use only one hand to utilize the track pad, and since Apple's trackpads, at least in my Macbook aren't designed that well, they don't allow a physical click to happen at the top of the trackpad, just the middle and the bottom, and even in the middle is harder to do than at the bottom. The solution to this is the option to turn on the feature that lets you click on stuff by just tapping it. This works great, but renders the ability to hold a button down and drag down at the same time useless (dragging windows is still possible using a three finger drag) without resorting to using two hands, holding the physical trackpad button down with one, and then dragging down to select where the bookmark will be put. First world problem? Maybe so, but there's a reason why people use hotkeys on programs - it let's the user operate the program much faster and easier too. What if Control Z was suddenly changed so that you had to go to the menu every time to undo things, or Control C and V where taken away for copy and paste? Just sayin

Feb 6, 2014 6:03 AM in response to andyBall_ukby Sealeihe,Hey All;
Aboslute way to adjust + button function:
Shortly
click and hold to the + button, at the same time press option(alt) key and choose as you wish.
Detailed explanation;
While you are on the website you'd like to ad to your bookmarks.
Click on the plus button and hold,
pop-up list should appear. On the top of this little list there should be a title saying someting similar to "add to" etc. if you press option (alt) key right now the title changes and says cometing similar to "Add to and Make Default".
(I'm using OSX on Turkish so on the title it is actually saying "Şuna Ekle" and when option key is pressed is says "Ekle ve Saptanmış Yap" therefor the tranlations might not be exact but the meanings are as I wrote .)
, now pres alt key(option key) the one you chose now will turn in to default funtion for the + key.
Hope you all find this usefull...

Feb 6, 2014 7:20 AM in response to mdk100by Fingerscrowbar,Thanks for the good fix, even tho' it takes 2 steps instead of one. As mentioned in an ealrier post you can also bring up the add to bookmarks window by clicking on CMD+D
I just cannot understand Apple not allowing ME, THE CUSTOMER to choose how i want the + button to work.
Everything Apple does at the moment feels like rubbish Windows type programming.
Apple will lose market share unless they start listening to US THE CUSTOMER.
