Installed Mavericks, now HDMI Monitor is black. Any ideas?

I have a MAC mini from mid 2011. I just installed Mavericks. Now my monitor is black. Using HDMI cable. No adaptors.

Shows up in preferences, but screen is black.

USB monitor is failing completely.

Gone from 3 monitors to one. 😟

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I tried the key combo and nothing happened for me. I did have different luck when I rebooted the machine. The display is detected and all configuration settings are available, but it doesn't actually drive a signal to the monitor. I tried toggling mirroring. Still just a black screen (doesn't wake up unless I touch one of the menu buttons). I can plug the same thing into a machine I haven't upgraded and it works fine.

I appreciate the tips though.

I too appreciate the tips, but neither of them works for me. I have tried cmd+F2 as well as rebooting the Mac, but I still have no thunderbolt/HDMI display monitoring.

I see there are three new OSX updates (for Digital Camera RAW Compatibility, iBooks and Mail). Nothing about display mirroring, but I will load them and see if it helps.

And when I come here to update my contribution to this discussion why is that after logging in the system doesn't bring me back to ths discussion immediately? Why do I have to go and search for it again? Simple, simple stuff that I would have expected Apple to get right.

Similar issue. HP w2338h working fine until Mavericks. HDMI connection via DVI adapter. Now this monitor does not even appear. Mid 2010 17" MBP.

I work as a consultant from home and work with numerous customers and connect to multiple environments concurrently. Not having dual display is brutal and is impacting my productivity and income. Not cool at all.

I'm also having problems with HDMI. I thought apple products were supposed to "just work".

I just bought the retina mbp13 2013 (came with Maverick) last week. I'm a long time Widnows user by the way so I'm still in the learning curve.

I have a HDMI 2 to 1 selector, one connected to the desktop, and the other for my laptop. Monitor is Samsung SA550 27". Last night I connected the HDMI for the first time, and my HDMI selector automatically switched to laptop input, and was displaying fine through HDMI. After a reboot HDMI stopped working no matter what I did.

I tried resetting the PR RAM using option+command+P+R and then also reset SMC by doing shift+control+option+power, and then it was displaying HDMI again. When I unplug and plug back in, HDMI doesn't work from that moment on.

I hope Apple fixes this soon. I'm realy likeing the battery time of the Haswell and build quality / high resolution screen.

I switched monitors last night after experiencing this problem (see earlier post). All was well until my laptop went to sleep. This morning no go. No external display detected.

This is my first real issue with Apple and it's a biggie. I am starting a big project today and without a second monitor I may as well tell the client now that I won't be able to deliver on time.

One of the most annoying aspects of this for me is that as far as I can tell Apple has not said anything about this issue eventhough it's a major one.

Console log when I plug in the DVI-HDMI connector. The monitor I am using is a ACER H233H.

Hopefully Apple will actually take a look.

My LG Flatron W2442PA is connected via HDMI to a MAC MINI 2012 with the newest release of the Maverick OS. If I click the mouse the display wakes up. This works for days, but in average after 7 or 8 days the display stays black and I have to crash the Mac Mini and reboot it again. I did not have a chance to try the CMD F2 option.

But seems, Apple has to fix this issue soon. It would be nice if Apple employee could give a status update in this community.

Fortunately I have a VGA adapter and cable so I am now able to work with my monitors using VGA. Unfortunately (for my son) the same monitors no longer work on his 13" Mid 2010 MBP using HDMI. They worked for ages but now have stopped and I only have 1 VGA adapter for Mac. So much for his gaming fun.

Still no response form Apple I see.

Installed Mavericks, now HDMI Monitor is black. Any ideas?
