How to add an hotmail account to Mail ?

it is still setting the account up as an IMAP account....I'll try that XXX trick to see if it gives me some manual options

There is (was) no need to enter fake data, manual entry does not need it.

Good God I don't get why it's so impossible to make iMail work with hotmail....all of a sudden iMail won't "keep" or accept any of my hotmail passwords, and I know they're correct. Does anyone have any newer advice for how to fix this? I cleared out all my outlook/hotmail PW's with keychain, and still no workie.

First ios7, then these new hotmail errors...Apple, or someone reading this, PLEASE help! Does anyone know the "correct" account settings to make imail play nice with hotmail?

What you need to do is click on add another account and do not specify one then just put in your "example@hotmail.com" email and your password and should add automatically it worked for me on my MacBook Pro running 10.10 Yosemite.
