Anyone having trouble sending group emails in Maverick?

Since installing Maverick the Apple email program is not recognizing information from Contacts when I try to send a group email. Can anyone help?

I am having the same problem and also have large group lists which I regularly need to send emails out to - they must go into the Bcc list. Isn't it Apple's responsibility to put this right? I am also having problems with Mail telling me it can't connect to iCloud and insisting every time that I enter my password. Isn't it time this was sorted out too?

Hey CNA,

I found out the solution to this.

When you are in Mail and you create a new message you will see the toolbar at the top. Click the "Contacts" button and then all the addresses should pop up in a separate window. Next, select the group you are trying to import and "Select All" the names in the group.

Now, if you look at the top left corner of the Addresses/ Contacts pop up window you should see "To:" "CC:" and "BCC:" buttons. Click the "BCC:" button and then all your selected addresses should drop in your email messgae. This is a step back for Apple as I used to be able to just simply drag and drop.

Can't say I'm happy about it but what else can you do?

Hope this works.

Thanks.

THanks dkano2012 this does seem to solve the problem but, as you say, it is a step back from just being able to type the group name in the address bar. Also, why don't Apple tell you these things rather than us having to waste large amounts of time and effort having to work it all out? A pretty poor show I say. Thank goodness for helpful people like you!

I don't have a "contacts" button on the mail toolbar. I have a little + sign in a circle in the "To" address field which gives me a contatcs poop-up window. Also, after I select the group name, how do I "select all"? I can't use this window at all usefully.

If I type the name of the group, there is no way to suppress the addresses from being visible.

No. I'm using a desktop iMac, which updated its Maverick OS recently.

I have found a workaround for my problem by accident!

If I just type in the name of the group it appears in the "To" field in a blue oval. If I send the message using this, all the recipients' names show. However, I discovered by accident that if I click the small arrow in the blue oval of the group name to get its small drop-down menu, and then click "Edit address" and then send the message without further changes, for some reason it sends to "undisclosed receipients".

Whatever happened to Apple's intuitive interfaces?????

Thanks for that.

Yes it seems to work.

Also if you go to contacts and select your group whilst holding down control, it offers you the choice to either export group as a vcard or send an email.

Select send an email and the group list is secure.

With both options the end result is the same.

Except that with the control click option you can only send to one group at a time.

Each control click generates a new email.

Guess you could cut and paste from one email to another.

With both options the usual blue oval surrounding the group name dissappears in both cases.

I'm having all sorts of MAIL issues after installing Maverick. The groups aren't working right. I keep having to create a new group and transfer all the cards into it, or the auto-fill feature doesn't work. And even after I get the auto-fill to work, the email itself is giving me problems. I try to compose an email and everything moves in S-L-O-W motion. The rainbow wheel whirls around and it takes 3 times as long to finish an email. This only happens when sending to a group.

I have one group with 179 cards in it. I had no problem sending to the group before Maverick. But afterwards, I am getting a bounced message from Google, but it doesn't identify the email address. So I isolated all gmail accounts and sent them a message--no problem.

But something is hanging up the group and the Genius Bar people can't figure it out either. I'm so frustrated.

Anyone having trouble sending group emails in Maverick?
