Hey ab_VaD3R,

I found the following recommended steps for when the setting to turn on Wi-Fi on your iPhone appears "grayed out" or dim:

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Verify that airplane mode is off by tapping Settings > Airplane Mode.
  2. Reset the network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings, including Bluetooth pairing records, Wi-Fi passwords, VPN, and APN settings.
  3. Ensure that your device is using the latest software. To do so, connect your device to your computer and check for updates in iTunes.
  4. If your issue is still unresolved, perform a software restore in iTunes.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, but I already tried all of the steps you mentioned and still no luck 😟

After all the tries, I even Erased and started as new iPhone, and during setup process it didnt even ask for wifi connectivity. I am really doomed.

Have been iOS products from last 3-4 years but never thought apple would do such a thing to its consumers. Really annnoying 😠

I work in a shop that sells apple products and iphones and have had 12 - 15 costumers come in with the same problem. "I am one of them"

The problem is the new update 7.0.3

unfortunatly there is no fix for this problem until apple bring out a new update because the problem is in the coding for the 7.0.3 version and there is NO WAY TO DOWNGRADE to a older version.

so we will all have to wait !!!!! 😟

Guys - there is no fix to this problem. Just got out of an Apple store genius bar appointment. iOS 7 kills the wifi/blutooth chip. hardware failure. If you're out of warranty or don't have apple care or can't upgrade your phone you are out of luck. They know it's a 4S problem only. You upgrade to iOS7 at own risk. Pretty big failure for apple.... IMHO

What am I supposed to do, iPhone automatically updated to iOS 7 😠 then apple says to its consumers that you upgraded at your own risk. Very annoying.

Phone starts heating up, Wi-fi not working, then battery life issues and phone is lagging now. Apple, this is not a good way to get people buying your new iPhones. This is only driving us away😠😠.
And the strange thing is, with so many people facing these problems, no claims have been made by apple nor they have addressed consumers to wait if they are going to solve this. This incident maybe the Demise of Apple.

After a lot of intermittent flaky behavior (choppy settings, no networks found, settings disabled, etc.) eventually the antenna failed completely and the settings greyed out. Fortunately replaced under warranty. The Apple Genius claimed not to be aware of issues with the 4S and also suggested updating to 7.0.3 but I can certainly say that the problems happened after 7.0.3. (on a 4S that was only a week old and replaced because of other issues.) Two replacements in a month.... something in 7.0.3 makes the wifi antenna run hot and fail until it fries out.... so will remain on 7.0.2.
