Most anoying is that they didn't fix this bug yet.
Exactly. And the only thing we can do is to file a bug report.
Could this work without deleting the .DS_Store files?
I'm a bit reluctant to use a command I don't fully comprehend.
I have the same problem. Very annoying bug.
Just did... thank you
I agree Alexius12, I hope the list view bug is fixed soon.
So far, the best solution I have found is using something called XtraFinder and adjusting the "Automatically adjust width of Name Column" parameter under the Features tab.
Has anyone to tried Yosemite yet? Is this fixed in it?
I can't believe how hard it is for Apple to just get this right.
Oh the "B*g" word eh?
Well if it acts like one maybe it is one!
Anyway I hope BB is watching and reading - as well as reading and fixing. That's all we mere consumers can hope for.

If it were that simple, there wouldn't be eight pages of responses to this thread. Holding down option was the answer a decade ago; not anymore.
It Worked for Me Kris.
The pain part is you have to do the option-move procedure on EVERY folder individually.
All my folders now open without a horizontal scroll bar.
An oversight is not the same thing as a feature.
EXACT problem here too.
I'd love to know this too - has Yosemite fixed this bug? If so I'll take the risk of the upgrade.
No.
