Dear Kaiwenhrt98,

you could have a look here:

In your example, try "Bob Smith" in both Contacts and iPhoto or Aperture, and ask Contacts to display your cards with "last name first". Put the first name and the last name in the correct fields of Contacts. Does it still work?

If not: do you agree that the name is the same even if the sort order is different?

Some more detail:

- the face is named "Smith Bob"

- it has been named this way because the name has been transferred from Contacts which is set to display "last name first". In Contacts, the first name is Bob and the last name is Smith. The display is "Smith Bob".

- the name displayed in face view of iPhoto is the relevant one, not the one that one can independently edit on the "face info" page

The way to get the bug circumvented is to change in *iPhoto* the name that has been set automatically, and it needs to be "Bob Smith". iPhoto does not distinguish between first and last names, although it has TWO fields for one and the same item (which is really bad in modern programming).

I just reproduced the problem (again) with 10.9.2

The bug is still there.

Finally:

Once one has allowed Contacts to find faces, Contacts displays Photos and NOT faces.

I'm having the same problem on my MacBook Pro with OSX Mavericks (10.9.2) and Aperture (3.5.1). It works with most contacts, but as HBO1470 mentioned, not for contacts with special characters in their names.

Also, obviously, names need to match between the Contacts app and the name you assign for Faces in Aperture (or iPhoto, i'd assume). However, neither Aperture nor Contacts can see the match for contacts with middle names.

In more detail: When adding names in Faces, Aperture will make suggestions from my contact list as i type, but it only grabs the first and last names from Contacts. If I override this, and type the middle name as well, there is no longer a match, and adding an image in Contacts will not work, even if in fact I have used the middle name both places. This is at least annoying, and can be a problem if you have contacts with the same first and last name, but different middle names (I have a couple of those in my list, for example, my son is named after my grandfather). It's also a problem if you insist on labeling faces i Aperture with peoples real and complete name, as I have been doing.

So we have at least two different bugs: names with special characters won't work, and the system can't handle middle names.
