iCal appointments showing wrong time

I recently upgraded to OS 10.9 Mavericks and today I noticed that new iCal appointments coming in from WebEx are showing up 1 hour later than they should. It's almost like it thinks I'm in a different TZ or my PST/PDT calculation is off. I've double checked this and it's consistent. Here is a snapshot:

ok..I am sending Engineering my iCal appointments as well as screen shots from my calendar. if you have the same and post...please do so. I am seeing this from Webex, appointments from MS Outlook Users, and appointments from Lotus Notes users.

I even did a screen share with them to show the webex invite (invited the support engineer to the meeting) and showed how it is wrong on my calendar.

Interesting quote was..."hmmmm...."

They asked for more examples and said there were going to check the server components that my account touches

It happens almost ALL the time...regardless of the sender. Webex is consistently wrong. Notes, Outlook....all wrong....Attached is a meeting that was SUPPOSED to be on my calendar at 7AM central...showed up at 8AM. It's from a Lotus Notes sender

It has been converted to TXT file and partially "redacted"

I have the same issue. Lotus Notes calendar invites show up in my iCalendar one hour late. In the time section it shows: 2 PM (1 PM EST) as if the invite was sent for EsT instead of EdT. Now it gets crazy: if I accept the invite on my iPHONE, the invite shows the correct time. No error. I believe this started when we switched to DST.

Any ideas, thoughts, input! Any help greatly appreciated!

May 5, 2014 11:47 AM in response to jchwcpa

After a lot of test - pure trial and error and comparison to a working Apple Calendar invite, I found out that the culprit seems to be the RRULE in the Lotus Notes invite. It specifies BYMINUTE=0;BYHOUR=2;

If you copy the invite, change the UID (to make iCalendar believe it is a new invite) and delete (BYMINUTE=0;BYHOUR=2;) in both RRULEs, the invite works.

Now that I know what is wrong, how do we get Lotus Notes or Apple to agree on something that works?

May 9, 2014 3:50 PM in response to chip.r

Been on the phone w/ Apple Engineering and Support. Walked though a bunch of settings...nothing.

Narrowed the problem down to Lotus Notes and WebEx (unless anybody out there has an issue I don't know about).

WebEx has this posting

Cisco WebEx Meetings .ICS When Added to iCal Shows Incorrect Time on The Calendar Appointment on Mac
Symptoms:

Cisco WebEx Meetings .ICS when added to iCal shows incorrect time on the calendar appointment on Mac.

My calendar shows the wrong time when importing .ICS for meetings hosted on Cisco WebEx Meetings.

My Mac iCal calendar shows the wrong time for meetings hosted on Cisco WebEx Meetings Premium.

Solution:
Cisco WebEx Engineering is aware of this issue affecting Cisco WebEx Meetings Premium users on Mac computers, and is currently investigating. The issue is tentatively scheduled to be resolved in a future release.

May 13, 2014 5:13 PM in response to jchwcpa

The solution by jchwcpa worked for me (editing RRULE). To tell the truth, I had not noticed this issue before, and I frequently get Lotus Notes calendar invitations from within our company. I live in New Zealand, and the time zone was incorrectly showing up as GMT +13 rather than GMT + 12. I'm running OS X 10.9.2.

Thanks
