ADC Display and Mavericks compatibility

After installing Mavericks I can't set the brightness of a 20 inches Cinema Display (ADC) anymore, options are just gone.

Anyone experienced the same? I already have reset the PRAM but it didn't fix it.

I'm using a Macbook 5,5 with an Apple DVI to ADC converter.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

I just filled a request/report at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html under Software/Hardware Compatibility:Peripheral/Devicesupport, please do the same so maybe these very nice devices won't just die.

I personality did unplug the two ADC 20 inches I'm running because I noticed two green half spheres at the bottom and pink hue on the upper edges (visible with grey backgrounds) because of, what I think is, full brightness stress. On one it is more subtle but still there, these symptoms just appeared with Mavericks and I don't want to kill them…

Thanks for the suggestion trzebinik but unfortunately this app and others like it only work to turn down the brightness, not up. For turning down the brightness (and having finer control) it works fine, but unfortunately it seems this larger ADC/Mavericks brightness control issue is now part of something that Apple considers just an incompatibility of older hardware:

Why they chose not to disclose this incompatibility before people upgraded to Mavericks is anyone's guess but it seems the recommended way to resolve this issue is just simply to buy a whole new display!

Also this means that brightness of the display light source has to be higher than necessary - AFAIK those programs just change gamma or "pixel brightness". This means, that more energy than necessary is consumed, and the life cycle of the display light source may be shortened.

We did pay a lot of money for our ACDs, especially in the early 2000er years. It's a shame those displays got crippled with Mavericks.
