Pages 5.0, hyperlinks, PDF file, links don't work

I followed Peter's advice and now when I try to open my file with Pages 9 I see this:

The required index.xml file is missing.

How can I delete Pages 5??? I just want to use Pages 4 again. Please help!

Did you actually export the Pages 5 files to Pages '09?

You can also try exporting them to Word .doc.

Yes, Peter, I exported the file to Pages '09. No luck.

I then deleted Pages 5, redid my newsletter in Pages '09 for the charity I am trying to help, and after an hour of redoing it and checking ALL the links ahead of time, saved the file in Pages '09, exported as a PDF and again the links are either not hot or are linked to "http://www.apple.com/startpage/"

I am ready to cry.

I think Maverick has severely screwed up my computer!!

I'm using Pages '09 4.1 (923) I cannot see how to upgrade to another version on the apple support downloads.

Thanks, Peter. I we to your suggestion of how to get back to Pages 09. I had a Snow Leopard OS before Maverick and was to at the Genius Bar that I didn't need to upgrade to Lion first. So the upgrade you suggested won't work for me.

On the page with info about how to download the update http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5534. It says:

Standalone installers for iWork 9.3 are available on the Apple Support Downloads page. OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later is required to run this update.

I got me iWork in a box, not from the App Store. But I donT have Lion

I hope there is a solution to the issue with Pages 5 soon. I'll use Word until then. Hours of extra work redoing what I already designed. Sigh

Then just update to a lesser version. I am running Pages v4.05 in Snow Leopard.

And it is for

Pages 4.0.4

Fixes an issue with tables.

Includes compatibility with the standard ePub file format (for use with iBooks) when exporting.

Is that the one I should get?

I'm using 4.2 so will I lose some other features I had originally?

I have this problem too, and I've just finished editing a 240 page document in Pages 5 to find that when exported to PDF none of the links are working.

I tried the export to Pages 09 'fix' but that has screwed up my TOC and some of the formatting, which will be very time consuming to fix.

I've trusted Apple software upgrades in the past to be relatively bug free - or at least any bugs have been minor and fixed quickly - but Pages 5 can only be described as beta software in it's current version. I hope this is not indicative of what we can expect from Apple, post Jobs.

Let's hope that they are at least working on a fix!

Pages 5 has over 90+ features removed and many others don't work properly.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Apple to fix anything much, let alone the long list of M.I.A.

Go back to using Pages '09 which should be in your Applications/iWork folder on your Mac

I gave up on the whole process. Deleted Page 5 and went back to Pages '09 which is working just fine. Got the charity newsletter printed and out to donors in time for them to give funds before the end of December.

Whew! That was a true nightmare.

I have had the same problem after completing my new course which is partly offered in a pdf format.

Then, all of a sudden, no links!

I was able to export to Pages '09 and then open with the older version of Pages on my mac, which I had never deleted (thankfully).

It worked. Whew!

The iWork 5.2 update released on April 1, 2014, seems to have fixed this bug.
