If your MBP is brand new , bring it in for service or exchange.
Ciao.
This Apple article may help you -
"If you experience this issue, reset the keyboard and trackpad by closing the computer’s display for approximately one minute and then open it."
Best of luck.
This happened to me this morning on a brand new MBP. suddenly the trackpad stopped "clicking" and the selection options went berserk. Based on one post in this forum (and honestly not expecting much), I took the vacuum cleaner to the areas around the trackpad. That seemed to clear up the problem entirely.
According to the post, if small particles like dust or sand gets trapped in the gaps between the trackpad and the unibody, it could jam the trackpad in any number of positions and cause erratic behavior.
At one point, even the Magic Mouse or the keyboard wouldn't work. I believe that was because the trackpad was stuck in the down, or "select" position.
Nonetheless, the Bissell appears to have solved it.
