i wish i can give back to a lapyop that has give me a lot over the years i likemy mac book 8 years is a long time i wish i had the money if mac book could say it say fix me so i can teach you more thing the screen may be dim but mid the laptop there life there a voice my mac book pro is best laptop i have ever own it was the coolest thing ever in 2006 it stell cool to now i will never forget the time it when i fisrt started it first time 12/31/06

I don't know what these guys are talking about. deleting bluetooth plist doesn't fix it at all. deleting all previous wifi network doesn't fix it either. The only thing that fixes it is delete all bluetooth devices, and turn bluetooth off. Then the wifi re-connects fine upon waking up the macbook. But I want to use my bluetooth headphone often, so I have to keep reconnecting, deleting the device again, etc, and it's so annoying.

My answer to all your problems is dongle dongle dongle. I do not get why people suffer when a $15/20 dongle will get them back online with bluetooth. Sure Apple needs to fix this but in the meantime why drive with a flat tire?

Shut the wifi off and put the dongle in the USB port. Or leave the wifi on as the dongle will pick up when the wifi drops.

Thanks Don, taking the steps recommended below solved my connectivity problem.

1) Delete all WiFi connection preferences.

2) In keychain, delete all references to airport.

3) In Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences delete com.apple.Bluetooth.plist

But what's the deal? is apple wanting to force Mac users to begin using their router? if my suspiscion is true; it is a low point for apple. How much more money do these gluttons need to make to understand corporate social responsibility?

I am giving up. Which particular USB dongle is recommended as a (hopefully) temporary solution?

Edimax has a couple that work on 2.4 and 5 up to 450 Mps and some are AC compatible.

All those I listed I belive are Mac supported. Double check my links!!! Look in there download section!!

Thanks Harvey. I would love the small AC one but its available only one particular web site. Guess will pick up cheapest from Amazon for now.

Edimax has their own online store called GetNetUSA.com that carries every Edimax product.

I had to call as they are constantly developing new stuff and not everthing is always listed.

BTW, my MBA was working fine and I ened up replacing its display due to other issues. IIRC, it worked fine even after display replacement and then one fine day it just became terribly slow. I'm assuming this is same issue as reported in this thread but is there anything particulr I need to check to confirm this issue? I have already tried disabling BT and all that and none of that seems to help. Other MBPro, iPad, Nexus everything is working fine at the same time and that points to MBA specific issue.

Have you connected to the ethernet to make sure that it is the wirelss that is causing your problem?

I have been looking at these just for now and would like an AC/N unit. But seems that they don't have one. But I went to the driver page (http://www.edimax.us/html/english/frames/b-download.htm) to see what model supported what and downloaded the drivers: EW-7811Un, EW-7722UTn v2.0 for several of the OS's since I run several and instlaled the OS 10.9 drivers without the dongle, as per a suggestion earlier on this thread that I can not find, and although it's not back to 100% and fails under hard use, my WiFi has worked for what I have needed. SO for me this tells me that it is software related issue that started back in 10.6.

Now everytime I wake my MBP, the WiFi logo is all black and I have Internet. After a while or if I really tax it, it will fail so I have a hardline standing by that when I plug it in the WiFi logo "comes" back to black, but no Internet connection. So . . . .

Both these units are Mavs supported. I understand what you are talking about. I believe it is a software problem also.

Again I would say Call edimax. They will tell you what they have. I know someone who has bought an AC/N dongle. I forgot which one but it worked just fine on a Mavs that was dropping the WIFI.
