Why doesn't the ipad have a calculator?

The iPhone came with a really nice Rams inspired calculator by default. Why isn't there one on the ipad by default?

Such a discussion would violate the Terms of Use of these forums. We're not allowed to speculate on why Apple does or does not do something. There is only one answer, "Because Apple didn't include one. Submit feedback."

Based on your posting history, this was not your first iPad. So, I'm not sure why you expected the iPad Pro to have a calculator and a weather app when your previous iPad didn't. Your comment was rather disingenuous.

just wow. bottom line, get a life?

Well, yes, I could have said "Get a life" but I really like using the word "disingenuous".

It would be nice to use split screen with it which does not work on any of the calculators I have tried. And I must say I don't much like dealing with those small ads that are found on the free versions. They are annoying and are eye candy for kids who don't know what they are.

CAn can anyone suggest what is so complicated code wise in the iPhone calculator that would not allow it to be included with the iPad? I have put feedback into Apple about this, and everyone knows how that goes. It goes to the same place where all the bug reports about iTunes go.

I'll speculate that they got so much negative feedback about the calculator in the iPhone that they didn't want to expose themselves to that kind of abuse again 😉

I have 5 calculators on my iPad, the same 5 on my iPhone. And after the first time I never used the built in Apple calculator again. If I describe it the way I would review it my post would probably be deleted.

Which version of the calculator?

Well, I haven't used it for several years, so whatever was around then. My primary calculator is an HP-12C emulator. For scientific work I use an HP-15C, sourced by HP directly (the 12C is a clone). I took a quick look recently, and I see they have updated the Apple and the landscape version looks interesting, but I'm used to the 12C. I also have a binary/octal/hex calculator, a couple of unit conversion calculators, and a slide rule emulator (just for fun). Oh, and a pilot's E6B navigation calculator emulator. I'm a big fan of RPN, and the Apple doesn't do that.

I also have two real HP-12Cs (a true original that I got when they first came out and a platinum) and an HP-15C.

Yes they have made it "better" but still not as good as the HP-15C app or the earlier clone that I also used. Besides my slide rule, and a slide rule app, I also have my HP-12 (don't have the platinum), early TI, and a few other gadgets. If I'm doing just quick numbers I do use the Apple calculator but I actually use the computer version more often.

I had an HP-11C in high school. I loved it, in no small part because no one ever borrowed it because they didn't know RPN.
