I Cannot get a Ps3 controller to connect via bluetooth on maverick

I'm trying to connect a Ps3 controller, via Bluetooth, to my MBP 15 Retina running Maverick. It says that the controller is connected, but the lights will not stop flashing. Others have seem to have success in previous OS, but it does not come up with a passcode screen on the new OS. Anyone know how to fix this? (ive Already tried resetting the controller.)

I should note that in addition to my earlier post, the four blinking lights have returned after disconnecting the PS3 controller and then re-connecting it to the Mac via bluetooth. It functions 100% for hours no problem, just has the blinking lights which are a little annoying.

I'm on Mavericks 10.9.2 using a 2013 MacBook Air. I'm not sure what to suggest to those who can't manage to get a solid connection (blinking lights or not). I didn't even have to try, it just worked the first time I followed the instructions to pair it up with the Mac.

I hade the same problem as you. I use one USB-cabel (no name, probably only for charging) and nothing worked. Then I shift to a brand cable for my Canon Camera, USB 2.0. Then the charging and connecting with my Mac mini directly worked fine (according to instructions) and now I can disconnect and connect my PS3 controller via bluetooth settings, when I tapp PS3 butten.

I think i found something that may help people out (yes, I'm new in this thread), I had a 2 foot long charging cable and it didn't work, simply because it didn't charge the controller and didn't flash the controller when it was plugged in, basically it was a dud. So I got a less than a foot long cable that made the controller flash as soon as it plugged in, turned bluetooth on, unplugged the controller and voila! Connected via bluetooth. Use all the cables in the house and find one that actually charges, it's simple.
