OS X Mavericks upgrade crashes Calendar

I 'upgraded' to OS X Mavericks and all works well except Calendar. When launching I get a Updating Calendar box with a bar that gets half full then a crash message stating "Calendar quit unexpectedly".

Terminal tracks the actions as follows: Any ideas how to solve this problem? The iCloud, iPhone & iPad copy of my Calandar are fine.

That seems wierd. In my (limited) understanding the iCloud uses your data and the iCloud Apps that are located on Apples servers, so if you can access the iCloud page via Safari all the Apps within that should work.

Have you tried on any other machine to establish whether it is your iPad/iPhone/iMac or the iCloud that prevents you getting in to the iCloud Calendar?

The next round,

I've managed to stop the Calendar crashes, don't ask me how, I'm dizzy trying everything in the book (Google anyway.)

I've managed to get Calendar back and stable but it's empty, I've somehow managed to get it staying logged into iCloud but there's nothing up there either........ can't even get it to sync with Google Calendar now, which it was before Mavericks.

I thought "On my Mac" mean't that any Calendar entries under this heading mean't it was stored locally, On my Mac !!!!!!!!!, if it is I can't find it.................

Had some file and pemission problems but I eventually managed to access what I know are good backups from the 2nd and 16th Nov. TM. (which I thought would be full of my Calendar data) but still cannot retrieve any data, completely vanished......., everything............and there was me telling everyone how stable Apple Mac is.................

twodogron, I have not had your success with ending the crashes. To some degree, I have given up, repopulated my calendar on iCloud and use that in Safari for now, awaiting an Apple fix at some point.

I also cannot find any Calendar folders. Interestingly, when I do a Spotlight search using a name of an event that was on my Calendar, the event shows (as an event), but when I click it, Calendar tries to open and crashes. Only telling you this in case it might give some idea of what is happening. It doesn't enlighten me.

All,

It appears that once upgraded to Mavericks, the calendar folders are no longer compatible with the latest version of iCal. Hence why it crashes.

To remediate,

Close the iCal App

Duplicate the folder (For Backup reason) /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar

Delete all content with in /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar

Go to:-

System Prefences | Internet Account | iCloud

Uncheck Calendars, Recheck Calendars
It will asked you if you wish to merge the database. (You may have to do this more then once)

For every other google calendar

Uncheck Calendars (if already checked), Recheck Calendars

Hopefully this will recreate all the calender folders within /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar and start re-syncing.

Once you are satified that all your calender are syncing, delete the /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar copy

Good Luck.

Hi there,

I have tested this out on my backup disk and there is a slight modification to the method. Will highlight this with quotation.

I had the issue - where the control panel "icloud - Calendar" would not stay Ticked - and the calender software would show no calendars and would crash. (google calander would also not check)

It happened after i had done a reinstall of the OS and then a TimeMachine Restore.

i looked in the /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar/ Folder and saw that there were files in there already... ( like "0D7DA1BF-F9A7-45DB-981A-68BA0DFD0CF8.caldav" Folders etc)

I resolved the Problem by setting the permissions on the /Users/YOURPROFILE/Library/Calendar/

folder.

I selected Get Info on the folder, and pressed the Padlock to unlock the sharing and permissions area at the bottom. (using the Administrator Password)

i added my User (in my case my user is called "Admin") and i set the user to have Read & Write Permissions

i then pressed the little "Gear Cog Icon" (next to the plus minus icon, and selected "Apply to enclosed Items"

I then restarted the Mac - and when it came back up i was able to tick the Calendar item in icloud control pannel - OK.

Then i opened calender and all was OK (my 7 calenders were back).

(i did the same tick for google calender and all ok)

hope this helps someone else.

regards

Londons
