Can't start apple mobile device service

I downloaded the latest itunes version onto a Windows 7 computer and now I can't start the apple mobile device service. Why is that?

An update -- I was able to use the shorter list to uninstall, as outlined here:

Important -- right-click and run the iTunes installer "as Administrator", as mentioned.

I was able to force the mobile services to shut down using the "services" control, but that may have not been necessary. Doing this was not sufficient to reinstall, I did have to uninstall the other packages as outlined in that link.

Looks like I'm back running! Ugh....

I got the same message. Obviously the latest version of iTunes had some crappy beta testers. I think it's a serious bug. I just spent the last hour cleaning my registry because i tried to install the latest iTunes. I'm searching ways to restart the service manually but be careful with service permissions, that can get tricky...Good luck, but i think this ones on Apple. Hope they patch it asap!!

I have found the solution to this.

Step 1 - Uninstall itunes and apple apps.

Step 2 - right-click on My Computer and click on manage

Step 3 - Click on the Services And Applications tab

Step 4 - Click Services

Step 5 - look for Apple Mobile Device and double-click on it.

Note: It should be disabled and not at automatic! try doing a disk clean up on to make sure

the Apple Mobile Device service is ready to be deleted. *You should be able to see the service is at the point of deletion. means you cannot enable it anymore.

Step 6 - restart your computer. *your computer should have a update.

Step 7 - go into the Services And Applications tab again to confirm the Apple Mobile Device is deleted.

Step 8 - Install itunes.

Step 9 - enjoy itunes 🙂

This ALMOST worked for me, but not quite. I was left with a missing MSVCR80.DLL and an Apple Sync Notifier error. I should preface by saying this is a Windows 7 HOME OS. That might be the difference. I had to manually remove:

Itunes

Apple Software Update

Apple Mobile Device Support

Bonjour

Apple App Support

Icloud

MobileMe

(in that order)

Checked the services to ensure nothing was still running.

Reboot

Reinstall Itunes from a saved download, not from the site.

I'm back on.

It seems that I have a similar problem after attempting to install the recent iTunes update. It seems to be stuck on those services, and I don't have the "rights" to do stop it, even though I'm an Administrator. Odd! I uninstalled iTunes and was not able to re-install, so I'll look for the other items above and try again (in that order, just in case!). Annoying!

Interesting -- it will not allow uninstallation of Apple Mobile Device support. I'll try again after yet another reboot.
