Ipad Air yellow screen tint on left hand side?
Hi, I have just got a new ipad air today. I am noticing that the left side of the screen has a yellow tint. Should I take it back for a replacement?

hi
I bought ipad air on 15 dec
i have many problems with display
I wish you better luck!
My first ipad Air return was on November 9 and they still have not fixed the problem, and i have Apple Care.... 😕
My last replacement (third one), that was returned by large leaks of light and left yellowish screen, arrived at Apple last Thursday 19, and at this moment nobody has contacted with me ... I have already written a mail asking about how to proceed, but there was no answer... 😟
(sorry for my English)
Hi all, mine has been bought on dec. 23
Production week is 51.
Serial is DMPLW
It has like half an inch of yellowish tint on the left side and it's wider in in upper part. Had nothing like that with my previous iPad 4, I except something better then that so I'll wait for the end of the return period on January 7 and I'll try to exchange it for another one. I'll keep you updated on this. Also it was made in China, So if it has been made on week 51 in china and bought on week 52ish, and I live in Canada... They don't keep high stocks. It mean the brand new iPad air you'll get in 3 or 4 days is been made right now... Don't have high hope on this issue been resolved but because I bought it during Christmas I only have till the 7th for the return... Good luck all
I got my replacement on Christmas Eve. And, it's a different colour from the last one but still yellow. Not as strong a yellow, but it's still there. Got it from John Lewis so I can't swap it in the Apple Store. The interesting thing is because of christmas I had not posted the first one back so I could set my iPad 4 and the two iPad airs in a line and compare the screens. It's like a sort of rainbow effect from white, ipad4, to yellow, replacement ipad air, to sepia, replacement ipad air.
After another phone call they won't send me another one till I talk to one of there technicians . Sometime within 72 hours.
It's a shame that Apple's quality control is so poor.
I have gone through (6) iPad Air units. Each of them had screen defects – some worse than others. The last unit I purchased online. It was a 64GB WiFi – DMPLT serial (week 49). It had a good overall screen – very little book spine shadow. However, it had sticky glue residue on the back top edge, a small chip on the top edge of the glass, and very noticable back light leakage when watching a movie with a black background.
artistguy,
no offense, you've gone thru 6 units already. Im assuming this is the 7th one your unhappy with. Why do you keep buying and exchanging. Just give up and wait a few months until they sort out the problems if there are as many as you've gone thru. Apple should implement a limited return policy like amazon and best buy. After 7 or eight exhanges you cant do any more exchanges. I keep reading about guys returning 6,7,8,9, 15 times. No normal business would stand for this sorry, Im on apples side on this one. If I had a business and you were my ciustomer I'd ban you from my store.
No offense taken. (No 7th iPad Air. I stated I went through 6 units.) The reason why so many? I really love the iPad and want a good screen. I can't argue your point. You are right. It is indeed time to take a break and see if they can sort things out.
You shouldn't "ban" anyone from a store who honestly wants to buy a quality piece of electronic equipment. I wasn't buying just to buy and return to mess with people. I sympathize with the paying customer who gets a poor product because of terrible quality control. Shame on Apple.
As long as we know that good screens exist it seems perfectly reasonable to keep trying. We can be thankful that Apple doesn't "ban" customers simply because Apple doesn't have the means to ensure good screens for discerning customers. Screen uniformity issues are currently common with edge-lit LED LCD displays - there is no reason to think these issues will be sorted out in a couple of months. Let Apple know we're unhappy, maybe they'll do something.
Don't abuse Apple's return policy, but feel good making use of it.
Also, I was wondering when I was unboxing both my iphone 5s and ipad air, there were dusts under the plastic screen covers (protectors). Did that mean they are returned products? But they were shipped straight from China...
How were they shipped straight from China? Were they purchased online? Usually even when purchased online, you get your shipment from a regional supplier. In my case online orders come from Harrisburg, PA.
I am outraged with the bad treatment that I am receiving from the Technical Department of Apple. They told me yesterday that called me in the evening or this morning they would give me a solution and it has not happened.
They treat me like an idiot.
No response.
The technician told me to do a test by changing a few options of the iPad. I told her that this does not solve the problem because screen has a backlight bleed problem and it is a manufacturing problem. He said that he would speak again with the Department of engineering of Apple.
They know the problem but take us for idiots.
Sry for my english 😉
dathero, I don't think that there really is a solution to the quality control problem with the iPad Air. To me, I think the production was cranked up to meet the demand of the Christmas season without any regard to quality. The solution is to wait it out and hang on to your money until it is sorted out. I'm tired of the purchase/return merry-go-round.
I've noticed that the yellowing of the screen is only present when using safari on my ipad air. I looked at an all white background in photos and it didn't appear to have the yellowing at all. I think that it has something to do with safari on iOS 7 not the actual screen.
I was reading the first page and someone said to try a reset to fix the issue. I tried this and I swear to god it worked. My ipad air was visibly darker then my ipad 3 with the brightness all the way up. During the reset while the white screen was up my ipad got brighter, it was like a light switch was turned on. It seems to have taken away the yellowing effect as well. Or at least it is harder to see then when it was darker. If anyone can tell me how to post pictures I can post a before and after with it next to my ipad 3
