Installing OS X Leopard on an iMac G4?
I have an iMac G4 700mhz with 1gb RAM and I was wondering if the combo drive can read DL DVD's? I am looking to buying a copy of OS X Leopard off of ebay (not a grey disk), but I am worried about it not being able to read DL DVD's. Before you all go blabbering on about it not being a supported machine, I have seen a computer just like my iMac G4 with same specs running 10.5.8 and it ran it pretty smoothly, and I am willing to take the chance. I do have Leopard Assist on a USB Flash Drive (doing that because if they ever take the download off the Internet, I have a copy) and will be getting a legit copy of OS X Leopard. If it doesn't read DL DVD's, is it possible to shrink OS X Leopard to a Single Layer DVD? I have seen it on the internet it being done, but is it legal to do for one, and for 2, would it actually work? Also, is it possible to replace the combo drive with something else, because I do have a Mad Dog IDE drive that looks the same size. Please give me any suggestions, and please don't point out your disapproval, I understamd what I am doing and I understand that it isn't supported by Apple. Thanks!
iMac (Flat Panel), Mac OS X (10.4.11)
