With new iOS 7, video streaming takes up phone's capacity

I noticed that with the new iOS, your videos (movies, television shows, music videos) are readily available to stream in the Videos app. But whenever you stream the video, it actually takes up storage in your iPhone. Everytime a video is being watched, your available storage capacity in your phone keeps on getting decreased quite significantly. And there's no way to delete the storage it's taking up, I think whenever a video is being streamed, the streaming file is being kept under the "Others" category because when you plug your phone ito iTunes, the "Others" section shows a huge amount of storage being taken up. Has anybody seen the same thing? And if so, is there a fix to this problem? Because my storage capacity is diminishing everytime I stream a video and the whole point of streaming a video is to NOT have it take up space in my phone's hard drive memory but unfortunately, it is taking up space in my phone's memory. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated or maybe Apple is coming up with a solution hopefully.

Thank you gnprice! I have a 4th gen iPad with 32GB and amazingly all of my space was gobbled up. In iTunes, it said "Other" was consuming over 20GB. Interestingly, in the iPad's settings, under Usage, the Videos app was showing "No Data."

iBrowse, thankfully, told a different story. I had 20.8GB of M4V files, clearly shards and fragments of partially downloaded movies and/or shows. I deleted them all, and got my space back!

It would seem to me this is definitely a bug. iOS should provide users with a means of purging the video cache, or perhaps auto-purge if the user doesn't watch/finish the item in question after X number of days. I hadn't watched any videos on my iPad for a couple of weeks, and the space never came back on its own.

So iBrowse was definitely the answer!

This is a bunch of crap that Apple hasn't fixed this problem yet!

It a great way for them to loose customers to Android. I have always like iPhones because of simplicity, Since IOS 7+ it's been crap! I or we have spent a tone of money in iTunes Store... To be treated like this is i'm unacceptable! FIX it Apple! Please, it's been way to long & and it cost me money because I didn't know my iPhone 4S 64gig was still good with no free space. I purchased a new iPhone 5s because of it!

I just used ibrowse to delete and free up the space (almost 19Gigs) that was taken from steaming movies & TV shows from icloud. This was the way to go, I have to say I was very uneasy about downloading the App not knowing if it was safe (virus free) I did run my own virus scan on the file and it turned out ok. I will run another virus check now that I have installed it. I will update you if I get anything bad, if not then use it. Its the easiest way to regain your space lost. I tried all the other ways listed in this forum. resetting your iPhone is a pain in the ***. Apple needs to fix this ASAP! Thanks for the helpful info and the link above, use the link for the correct software. There are other apps that have a similar names. Use iKnock's link you will be fine. It's on Page 3 I think...good luck and let me know if it works for you or you have any problems. Thanks

I've had this afflict 3 of our family iPhones so far. It's the worst of the iOS 7 bugs, and that's saying a lot. Once the cache overfills the phone I have to backup, "restore" (wipe) then restore (restore).

I tried deleting the CloudAssets media with a different app, but it didn't quite work. So far only a full wipe works reliably. Next time I'll try changing the iTunes AppleID to see if that forces a cache purge.

We need a fix from Apple. There are hundreds/thousands of discussion posts full of misleading advice on this topic. It's a bug, we need a fix.

I do wonder if its worse for people who stream Apple Store media and also sync to iTunes, or whose iCloud ID is not their Apple Store AppleID.

Just so everyone knows. I just updated to 7.0.6, and it did NOT fix the issue. I started a movie with 1.7 gb of space on my iPad 2 streaming from iCloud. It downloaded almost the entire movie and ran out of space. Of course it wouldn't let me finish the movie because my iPad was "full". I checked the usage and was now at 0. Usage showed no Videos on the machine. I connected to a PC and using iPhoneBrowser, I cleared the /cloudassets folder and now I have 5.1 gb of space available.

Yay, Apple!
