I did see the Apple Samsung Printing and Scanning update out today. You would might want to investigate this.

Unfortunately nothing to do wiith this topic. That refers to Samsung scanners and printers. Nice Googling tho.

Hey I don't like people saying "Me Too" but I just bought my very first Smart Phone, a Samsung Galaxy Y. (Easy decision iphone £500, Galaxy £49.99.)

Downloaded Kies for Mac latest version, and know what? - Me Too! - It crashes and will not connect. Sent a few crash reports. Like Petermac87 says Samsung didn't test it I guess.

OR maybe it uses SyncServices??

I have just had to buy a new Samsung S4 and a Macbook Pro running OSX 10.9.

Kies doesn't work. So I called Samsung who said that Kies for the Mac does not work with OSX higher than 10.8, so forget about using it.

Their suggestion? Android File Transfer. When I pointed out that I wanted to restore my settings I was effectively told that it was bad luck.

So if this Samsung gets stolen, I will be after Samsung for failing to tell me that the phone is not compatible with current model Macs, and I will write to them in advance warning them.

No, it does not. I run fully updated OS 10.9.1 and just now installed AFTU. All I see is "No Android Device Found." It has NEVER worked for me.

Nor does Kies. It used to work, but now it doesn't even recognize any connected device. And Kies' support pages are junk. I cannot transfer files, nor sync Calendar or Contacts.

When my contract with AT&T runs out in Nov., I'm getting an iPhone.

Well, I can tell you that the version I have installed is 3.0.1.14012_5 and I'm not able to do any sort of backup off my S4 Active.

In fact, when I turned the phone on while being connected and having Kies running, my Mac crashed something fierce - never seen that before: it dumped console stuff right into the GUI and then rebooted. When it came back up, it forced an fsck that found tons of orphaned files (even though I did a controlled fsck just yesterday).

I'm presuming the crash came from Kies, because that is the first Kernel Extension it listed.

On the Samsung website it lists 10.7 as being the last compatible OS... not sure if their web guy isn't up to speed or if that is the case?

One thing that at least got it to communicate with my S4 was Tools-->Install Driver (it did a driver reinstall - before that it wouldn't even connect).

It's just not Apple Software, is it...

Gidday - Just been given a Samsung S4 as a work phone and am now going throught the Mavericks dilemma.

My Mum lucked in got my iPhone as a present..anyway...

I have Mavericks running on all our Macs including this one - MacMini.

Download and install:

NTFS-3G 2010.10.2

OSXFuse 2.6.4

If KIES is already installed it should now work otherwise download and install

Smartswitch for Mac will allow you to backup your iPhone/iPad if you have one and cross load Contacts, Notes, Multimedia and phots across to your Samsung if you want.

That was it for me - all works having just completed it myself and wanting to share.

All the best - love my Apple stuff.

My Samsung is chaos, although it now looks like my iPhone.
