Color purity issues on iPad Air (blues look purple)?

After using my iPad Air for a day, I noticed that it seemed that links in Safari looked tinted slightly purple instead of blue. I compared the same page on an iPad Mini, iPad 2, and Dell LCD monitor and the other three looked considerably more blue. I asked three other people who bought iPad Airs to pay attention to blues and they all immediately said that it looked too purple. It's far enough off that it is annoying. Does anybody else notice this as well? Do you think Apple might address this?

Compared to my iPad 2, my new iPad Air definitely has a green(ish) hue, specially on skin tones. I took mine back to Apple store today for that issue and for slow WiFi performance. The replacement one they gave me also has these two issues. The Genius Bar acknowledged the inaccurate color hues, but had no answers as to why the display isn't color accurate. They also had no idea as to why the internet connection is so slow, even on their wireless network.

I also brought my iPad 2 to the store with me to demonstrate how Speedtest performs on both units, and they were also stumped by the results. What's funny though is that they acted as if they never heard of Speedtest, and kept trying to discount its validity since it's a third party app. When I challenged them to use any speed testing app they want to compare both models, they quickly backed off from slamming Speedtest. My iPad 2 is literally TEN times faster than the new Air over WiFi, and FIVE times faster on cellular network than my new Air. To top it all, my new Air is not connecting to AT&T LTE, only to AT&T's 4G. My iPhone 5s is connected to LTE just fine. I contacted AT&

I ended up buying a new AirPort Extreme with 802.11ac to see if that cures the wifi slow speeds. There's obviously something seriously wrong with the new iPad Airs in my opinion. I am an avid Apple consumer for many years now, and have put up with new product rollout glitches, but this is by far my worst experience with an Apple product purchase/usage!

The "genious" guys and managers in apple stores can act like the most famous acters and actresses. Last year, I went through 13 iPad in order to get a non-issues iPad. 12 of them were terrible. They had pink, purple, green and yellow tints on the screens. Also, they had dead dead pixels and dust under the glass. Once I came my local store to return one and get a new one. The new one had a big black dot that was easily noticeable under the glass. However, when I show them the ipad and asked if they could see the black dot, both the genious guy and his manager said : No, sir. I don't see anything.

That's so funny. They may lie in their teeth in order to protect their benefits. Therefore, everyone should check your own iPad carefully within 14 days. If it has any problems, take it back apple store and get a new one. Keep trying until you could get a good one.

I just upgraded from an iPad 2 to the iPad Air, and right away noticed that anything that should be blue is clearly and distinctly purple. It's most noticeable in things such as the Facebook app and links in Safari. At first I thought I could live with it or adjust to it, but it's kind of driving me crazy.

My question is, it it worth taking it back and getting another one to see if the screen is any different, or is this just the way colors look on this version of the iPad? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, It was me.

On November 1st, I purchased an iPad Air silver 32 GB wifi only on apple website and picked up in my local store. When I juxtaposed it and my iPad 3, I could notice that the blue on iPad Air wasn't as pure blue as my iPad 3 was. Instead, It seemed to be almost purple. Therefore, I took it back the store the day after. Unfortunately, the store didn't exchange it, they only accepted return. Then I returned it.

2 days later, I came my local bestbuy store to buy another iPad Air. When I unboxed, I saw its display under the glass seemed to ripple. Immediately, I took it back bestbuy and request exchange. After taking a look at the iPad, bestbuy was glad to give me a new one. This is perfect, It has absolutely no any issues including above purple issue.

Very helpful! My Air is quite good except for those purple links! One I had earlier in the month looked fine--shoulda kept it, but was unsure whether I wanted 16 or 32gb-- and realized Black Friday sales were coming. Saved $65 but now I'm facing this.

Say, as I mentioned elsewhere, the white page background in iBooks also looks grey! Is that wrong, too? Or, something weird about iBooks color rendering?!

For the purple links problem, first thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

If that doesn't help have technician take a look at your iPad. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

Hi, I reveived an ipad air 128 for Christmas. Blues are purple or violet, my photos look sickly. links are purlple.... I have returned 3 total to the store as every one had the same issue.

Is this happening on just the ipad Air 128 wifi? I did not get a replacement. Just a store credit. I am hoping someone will figure out this is not an isolated issue from the above post. A friend got a 32gwifi ~ has no issues. Bought in a different region as well.

I'm in Texas. If anyone has any other info or updates please share.

Lastly, I brought in my 1st gen ipad and my ipone 4s for comparison..the Apple Rep did not seem surprised btw.

I've now seen enough iPad Airs and read enough tech commentaries and web pages, especially those of its expansive color gamut, to conclude that this is built-in. Certain web sites that normally show darker blue web links will appear at purple or violet on an iPad Air. One just has to live with it!

The good news is that once you've tapped on a link, it does turn even more purple--and one gets used to the more purplish1blu hues on most, but not all, sites!
