Mail can't connect to iCloud account

Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere, I did a couple of searches and did not find an answer to this annoyance...

Since upgrading to 10.9, Mail always asks for my password at start up, after claiming that it can't connect to iCloud account "MobileMe". I enter the password and everything is fine. Everything should have been enabled when the install took place, and of course, I have verified that the iCloud account settings seem to be correct. I have also tried resetting and repairing Keychain, to no avail.

Are there tips that someone could provide for how to avoid this inconvenience?

Thanks

Guys, having the same problem, not with a password request, but an inability to select iCloud email as active in system prefs - when I try to tick the checkbox, it displays 'activating' for a moment, then reverts to unchecked.

I've tried the fix suggested here, in Mail's iCloud account prefs, but Apple Token was already selected, and obviously doesn't work.

Any other suggestions, please?
