You're right - & not the first here to report that Yahoo are giving those inaccurate messages.
Yahoo is insistent on forcing Mac users to upgrade our OS to Maverick (which Apple is currently (11/7/13) offering for free). If you choose not to update to Maverick, what makes the "upgrade your browser" prompt even more annoying is that Yahoo Mail redirects to it each time one signs in. I found a solution for everyone but Safari users. Hope some smart Mac user finds a solution soon.

To get round their irritating message bookmark the URL you are taken to when you click the 'ignore' button:
http://us.mg4.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch?reason=ignore&rs=1
That way you won't see it again.
Thanks Andy. Note for pedants and technophobes - there is no IGNORE BUTTON, there is CONTINUE which takes you to the IGNORE landing page.
1) Sign In to Yahoo Mail
2) Auto-directed to upgrade page
4) Bookmark the URL you're taken to and use that to login
OR ALTERNATIVELY, per Carolyn, you can access Yahoo Mail via Mac Mail
All other browsers try the URL method or http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/179967

Thanks, I don't see that bogus message anymore.
