Since upgrading to Mavericks, I have been unable to sync devices (specifically ipad mini and iphone 4s) to my MId 2013 Macbook Air. They wil rapidly connect and disconnect, and I'm unable to do anything with the device. This happens with both USB ports. Any suggestions?

I placed a USB 2.0 hub in my iMac 5K, but my iMac won't recognize any device 😟 It's a trust USB 2.0 hub with 4 ports but non of them work on my iMac
The problem still exist, i tried it al.. the SMC reset, reset permissions, disc permissions, delete the ipads and begin from scratch, but non outcome.

***** big time.. i thought maybe OSX el capitan will be the answer to all of this, but just updated and the problem still exists.. now i think it looks more like an hardware default then a software default 😟
I had this issue on my macbook air and iphone and ipad
The fix for me was to disable personal hotspot on my ios device. after that they both connected fine via usb

Yes this was the only thing that worked for me. I'm guessing it's because I am not using original Apple usb cord. I use a d-link 4 port usb hub and it works no problems. I spent hours before I tried this fix. I was connecting a Iphone 4 to a Windows 10 computer. However it worked fine on my other Windows 7 computer without the hub. Hope this helps.
Resetting my location and privacy did nothing, Resetting my network setting worked. It stopped the rapid connecting and disconnecting.

It was on my iPad. I went to General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Would be the same for an iPhone too.
