Saved search for Photo Stream not working in Mavericks

I have a saved search for JPGs in my photo stream so I can easily access them via Finder instead of iPhoto. In Mavericks my saved search no longer sees my latest photo stream iPhone pics. Anyone else notice this? I can see them in iPhoto though. I've tried re-doing the search, etc, but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Oh man, I've been beating my head on the desk trying to fix this. The only clue I have is that photos taken from iOS 7 (vs iOS 6) devices after about a week ago (wasn't there an OS X update recently?) don't show up in finder the same. When you dig through the "sub" folder to find the long-named folders with the photostream files in them, hit command+i and check out the "More Info:" section. The recent ones don't have anything in them (see http://d.pr/i/WKzR). Furthermore if you drill down to one of those folders containing such an image (see: http://d.pr/i/nIUP) and try to create a saved search from there it won't show up (see: http://d.pr/i/FOri).

I even tried to create an automator to pull those images out, but when you're searching for a file in any of those new folders finder doesn't see anything.

Not an answer for ya, just more confusion. Let me know if you get any bright ideas.

I may have found a solution. I opened iPhoto and re-enabled icloud. After I did this, all my photos started showing up in my "Photo Stream" saved search folder like they used to. Hope this helps you too!

(A word of caution: You may want to save the photos that are currently showing up in your photo stream search folder before you try this.)

Ok, all of the Photostream pics are back in iPhoto now. And now the saved search is even worse. Only one photo shows up in the search.

I don't know what this has to do with it, but when you highlight the files and right click and Get Info (or command+i) the More Info sections are different. The only one that shows up in my saved search has lots of information from the camera in it. See that here: http://d.pr/i/6eHv. And all of the other ones have *no* info in the More Info section. See that here: http://d.pr/i/f4M8

That's the only difference. It's like they aren't really files to search. So if you search those individual folders you won't find any files in them, even though there *is* a file in there. But if you do a search of the folder that contains the one photo that shows up in saved search it will show up.

I see what you are saying!

The pictures that have SOMETHING in the "More Info" section show up in my Photo Stream search folder as expected, while the ones that do not have anything do not show up.

More of my Photo Stream folder pictures have "disappeared" over the last hours even though they are really still there in the "~/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/sub/" folder.

Maybe we found a bug?

Possibly although we're using a sort of cheat to get at these photos anyway. The expected behavior for iPhoto is still correct. I don't know whether the problem exists on the iOS side, or the OS X side. Seems like the former triggers the latter.

My latest play was to import an old iPhoto Library (the whole reason I'm doing this is I got a new MacBook) in hopes that it would treat the Photostream pics like it was before. No love. And oddly, I'm now down to only one photo showing up in my saved search (as well as new saved searches I have created) and it's not the one that I saw two hours ago. Hah.
