Iphone 4 charge but doens't play music in sony dock station

I also have same problem. My Iphone 4s worked fine with my docking station right up unitl the time I upgraded to IOS 7. Now it will only charge, no sound or text message/phone alerts. I've completed all the usual steps like resetting etc but no change. Any help gratefully received as a real pain.

I have the exact same problem absolutly gutted it doesnt work with my hifi makes me want to sell my iphone and get one that will work.

Very dissopointed that My dads iphone 4 my sisters iphone 4 and my old 3gs all work with out a problem yet my iphone 4 on ios7 doesnt

I have the same problem. i phone 4 won't play music on my SONY Dock. Charges fine. Was partially working after upgraded to IOS 7- worked but couldn't adjust volume- adjusting volume while music playing would turn music off. Now doesn't play music at all. There are a number of posts with the same issue- is there a simple explanation?

The reason they won't work is because Apple only want you to be able to use their products so since the update ios7 they have managed to change the software of the phone so you can only use their products silly really

Has there been any solution to this? the reboot thing did not work for me. Still no sound through the dock (the dock works fine and so does the phone, they apparently are just no longer talking to each other)

Iphone 4s OS 7.1 ...Literally stopped connecting as soon as I updated so I know that is the cause I just dont know how to fix it.

Short of going android..... (after all the friggin money Ive invested now in itunes >.<)

I have the same issue. After 7.1 my SONY docking station is not compatible with my iPhone 4. The thing is that it is working with other iPhone 4. If I listen closely to the docking speakers I can hears music but very very low. The volume bar dissapears and that's it. My concern is that my iPhone works with other docking stations just fine, and there isn't a problem with the plug.

It seems no one has an answer or the Apple representatives don't want to get into this? Dissapointed and still looking for answers.

I have THREE iPhone 4s, one model A1332 and two A1349, and the latest model I got from Verizon, the A1349 (MC676LL/A) does not work with the dock on a 2014 Honda FIT, and my Sony player, although the old phones work fine.

I found away to make the sound work. I too have had the same problem with my iphone 4s and my Sony docking station. It will charge but no music since I updated to ios 7.1.1. Dont mess with a factory reset. Just go to your music and select the song you want to start listening to. Hit play and start the song before docking and leave it on while docking it. Once it is docked stop the song from the phone screen, back it up to the begining of the song, and then hit play on the docking station. Your music should start playing on the dock at good volume and you should be able to use the dock buttons at that point. Good luck.....

Thank you for this post. Unfortunately it doesn't work with my iPhone 4. When plugged in, I can hear the song for one second on the phone's speaker and then it stops and it becomes VERY low. I tried to make the steps you described above but didn't work...

Unplug the docking station, leave it unplugged for ten seconds, then plug it back in. That worked right away for me.

I agree. It is a silly suggestion. '...you can only use their [apple] products ...'
Why? What possible motive could Apple have? Because if this is true it shows a deviation away from compatibility Apple have always be good with. If it doesn't then my next purchase of an iPhone is serious doubt. Because podcast are my main reason for using the Sony Audio Docking System.

Is apple ever going to address this major update issue? The whole reason I used a docking station is that the screen and power button are non repairable on my device. Used to have device constantly plugged in to my sony dock station. Went to add some new tunes and unfortunately agreed to update. Now I am the proud owner of a brick. Re-formatted multiple times and wiped itouch through itunes.

Unfortunately can not jailbreak as need power button to function for that.

So now I have a brick, two months out of warranty, until apple address this update which wiped out sony dock station capability. If anyone has found a solution let me know. Only suggestions I've seen is the play the song before connecting it, which doesn't work if you are using the dock station to get a partially damaged itouch to play. Have tried hard and soft reboots, plugging and unplugging, letting the battery run out on device.

Did you try resetting the Sony Docking System? 😉
Because most of the incompatibility in my
anecdotal experience have always been third party.

Integration has to be two way and Sony is a competitor.
So it is logical a reset of their product is necessary.

Thank you but the problem isn't with the docking station my other two ipods that I didn't update still work fine, however I tried unplugging and waiting and replugging anyways.No go.
