Well I do really want full screen and want to use safari. Why the **** haven't they done it on ipad??? It's great on iPhone. Makes no sense to me! At least give us the option!!! VERY IRRITATING!!!!!!
Nope. The Safari App like other preinstalled Apps on the iPad cannot be removed or deleted. They can be hidden, or restricted.
So as Parasprite points out check your restrictions, or use the Spotloght search to try to find it. If its in a folder somewhere Spotlight search will tell you which one.
I agree. I am a website designer and I want to put an iPad frame on my website inside of which i want to put full screen screen shots of the sites i have built which i want to screenshot from my iPad so it gives a graphically genuine experience to the person viewing my site and then they can see exactly what kind of work i have done.
But in safari i can't get the full screen and i am having issues getting the full width of my site displayed too.
the address bar may not take up much room but i simply dont want it present in my screen shots.
Just to put another spanner in the works.....Watching TV via (my brand new) Apple TV via my iPad, the top two bars really annoy (remember that these two bars are VERY significanty bigger on a 42" HDTV!
I can watch truly full screen on my iMac, no problem, but then I use Firefox (not available on iPad!!!!!).
Please Apple do something about this really annoying problem
You can full screen video in Safari, just not through youtube (which is what I assume your using) because they prefer to use some html5 hacks to display annotations, change quality, and probably for ads. The only workaround is to use the app (which is what I assume they prefer you do anyways) or to use Jasmine (I've seen this reccommended a lot for youtube, but I've never used it).
Ok so now some of you are happy that Ipad have the full screen mode
how about a new update with the function to turn it off, as I am sure there are others like me that find it most annoying having to scroll the screen up and down to get my Favs and open tabs back into view.
after updating to IOS8 and finding plenty of good new features there are also plenty of annoying ones and visiting the Techy guys in the Apple store at Caesars Las Vegas, they couldnt answer any of my queries and the ones they did try and answer were wrong
SO my call to Apple is quite simple, update this Full Screen Mode feature with a way to disable it and maybe my new Ipad will be less like a and back to how it was before the update
I Totally agree with Biff. Apple needs to fix this ridiculous asinine blunder. The reason we buy iPad is to get the bigger screen, then they degrade it by not making safari go full screen. that's like buying a Cadillac and riding in the trunk.
What are you talking about?
Fullscreen Safari browsing has been a thing on the iPad now for a couple years. It came about with iOS 8. It was mentioned as such in this very thread. It was not available on iOS 7 when it was a thing on iOS 7 for iPhones. It has since been added to iPads.
So what exactly are you demanding?
Yes it is in ios 8
Hi JMS..26
Sadly Apple don't read these Community pages - you need to post your feedback here https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
Cheers

Investigate the other numerous browser apps in teh App Store. Quirte a few offer that option, if it is really that important to you.
By all means, let Apple know how you feel about this.

Considering that Apple added fullscreen support for Mac's Safari back in Lion, I doubt this is their reasoning.
Why would I want to turn off the Favorites bar? Thanks for your reply.
Because it gives you more screen real estate.
Anyone know if they plan to give us the choice of full screen....like on the iphone????
