Why does Apple take 5-7 DAYS to deliver a Mountain Lion download?

It's unbelievable, but true. You can download Apps free. Or paid. You can download Mavericks instantly.

But if you want to BUY an older version of OS X, it's still sent out via electronic delivery - but it takes almost a week to be available to you via an email link back to the App store. Oh, and it's not "available" in the App Store. Mavericks yes, Mountain Lion no. Make absolutely no sense.

Honestly, I think they could have sent me a CD faster.

I'm completely unimpressed. And Apple should be completely embarassed.

Why not get Mavericks? Too many initial problems (ex. external drive disasters, Gmail not playing nice with MacMail - both complete show-stoppers). But I need something newer than Lion to run particular application - also not available in the App Store.

Yes not only did I have the same problem but when I went to install it - it made me install Lion again first (already installed) and now Mountain Lion App is nowhere to be found. Can't download again either even when Apple says once you pay you own it. So a week later and a wasted day and I still don't have it, and the idiot I spoke too tells me to get tech support, really, pay another $30, Apple Care ran out on this computer 3 or 4 months ago of course. I'm still waiting for Mountain Lion, there are applications I can no longer run without it, or I would not have wasted $20. I've been a customer for more than 20 years, I wish they and Adobe had more competition.

The process for OS upgrades is broken. Based on my experience, Apple does not care--my direct perception is the company now regards its embedded user base as a nuisance. Had an iMac running Snow Leopard/10.6.8, tried to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Once you click on your email link your money is gone. No refunds buddy, no refunds. I contacted support online, and there was told machine can only upgrade to Lion. Okay fine, can you exchange. No refunds buddy, no refunds. Called Apple support and got offered a phone case of greater value than the software. Asked to speak to a customer relations person--after 5 days and repeated assurances that the issue would be handled the resolution is no refunds buddy no refunds. Good luck with your upgrade.

I am kind of in the same situation. I have a macbook from 2009 with OS X 10.6.8.

I bought Mountain Lion on the Online Apple Store and received an email with a code to download the software from the App Store. However I cannot find the software on the App Store...It is not in the Purchases section of the App Store on my mac.

Do you know where to download the software Mountain Lion and use the code?

Could anyone help please?
